Quick Note doesn't get focus after global shortcut command

If I am not already in Evernote and I use either the global short cut or click on the Evernote Helper to bring up the Quick Note, I have to click in to start typing because it doesn't get the focus.

If I am in Evernote, it gets the focus and I can start typing.

This is an extra click I don't need - something I can change?

There is only a limited number of possible shortcuts, and many apps (including the OS) are offering keyboard shortcuts.

There are only 5 global shortcuts, and I doubt this will be extended. One of them creates a new note from everywhere, another one opens the helper window.

On my Mac after the helper or note has opened the cursor is always placed in the first line, so I can start typing right away.
