Note History greyed out

My sketch got replaced when i placed a image in. I was hoping to retrieve it and read through several forums on "note history", but this was greyed out on mine, despite having a paid account. Anyone able to assist?

Note history with a subscription account; (except Plus, which is not entitled) is accessible even when there are no versions yet. 

There may be reasons, like notes handled by external apps like Penultimate or Skitch, or notes owned by another person, shared with you
