Error Failed to share note

We have several students that receive an Error - Failed to share note, after clicking Invite Someone.  They Create a note, click invite someone, enter the teacher's email address and then receive Error Failed to share note.  It is not happening to everyone though.  Is there a setting they need to have turned on?
