ziggystardust 0
I use Evernote Basic on my phone and my Samsung Galaxy Chromebook. On the Chromebook, I have downloaded both Evernote and Evernote Web. My goal is to have Evernote as my default app to use for note taking and annotating web pages clipped with Evernote Web Clipper Chrome Extension. In Android settings When I select the dropdown arrow for Note Taking App, the only choice is Google Keep. Below that option is a link to get more note taking apps on Google Play. When I saw Evernote listed there instead of displaying it as already installed, it shows as available to download. I download and it installs a 3rd version of Evernote with a white circle icon, vs. the Evernote green squares for both Evernote and Evernote Web. Then I am prompted to delete a device because of the two device limitation. When I go to "choose device to delete" three devices are listed, as shown in attached screenshot. The two listed as android are the same device. Why is the previously installed version not recognized and offered as a dropdown option to select in Android Settings as my Note Taking App? Why is Google Play offering to download Evernote when I already have it installed on the device, and then treating it like an additional device? Do I need to uninstall one of the versions of Evernote on the Chromebook and if so which should I keep, the simple Android version designed for phones, or the one from the Chrome Store? Thank you in advance, this has been pretty frustrating. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 11,689 Posted September 1, 2020 Level 5* Share Posted September 1, 2020 Hi. You - clearly - don't need two versions of the same app on the same device, so I'd suggest you decide which you prefer and delete one. That should take care of the 'more than two devices' issue. You're only allowed to unsync so many times a month, so choose wisely! I've no clue why Google might have allowed you to duplicate the installation, or why it doesn't allow you to select Evernote as the note option. Evernote should be easily accessible through home page widgets or the app launcher, and that may be all that's available to you - you'd need to talk to your device provider for more on preferences.
