Just before I include the details of the bug, I just want to say I'm amazed that you're required to pay in order to submit a bug report!  I don't need support for this issue, I just want to submit the details of the bug.

Anyway, here are the details:

Your activity log:

13:44:47 GMT+0000 (GMT Standard Time) (ERROR) /background.html: https://www.answerthepublic.com/, https://www.evernote.com/shard/s71/u/0/notestore, EDAMUserException, {"errorCode":11,"parameter":"Attribute \"nodecheckid\" must be declared for element type \"a\"."}
at j (/js/main/Submitter.js:3:3540)
at Thrift.BinaryHttpTransport.<anonymous> (/thrift/thrift-binary.js:3:7128)

What you are doing when the crash occurs: Clipping a website as a Bookmark.

A description of what is happening: Receiving the error message "Cannot save clip", and the website is not being clipped.

What version of Evernote you are using: 6.13.2 (Evernote Web Clipper)

A list of all the steps you took before you contacted Evernote Support:

  1. Logged out, and then logged back into Evernote (via the Web Clipper)
  2. Searched through your Help & Learning section
  3. Checked if there was a new version of Evernote (which there wasn't)
  4. Checked your status blog (where the latest message was "All systems are running smoothly")
  5. Uninstalled, and then reinstalled Evernote Web Clipper (from the Chrome Web Store, via the link at https://evernote.com/products/webclipper/)

Device & operating system: PC & Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) - Service Pack 1.

Hi.  You're really not required to pay to report a bug - access to this forum is free,  as is access via the Evernote Twitter account @EvernoteHelps.

We're a (mainly) user-driven forum for bug reports,  general comments and suggestions for fixes and work-arounds from our experience as (for the most part) long-time Evernote users.  The Support team is available on https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action if you are a paying customer.

It's sometimes helpful if you can quote the URL of an 'unclippable' page - Clipper is pretty good,  but there are occasions when the architecture of a website defeats it and it returns bad results - or less frequently - none at all.  In those situations I tend to use a cropped-down screenshot,  Firefox's built-in page grabber or a third party service to get the content.  Worst case it's possible to print a page to PDF and attach the PDF file to a note.

I'm using 6.13.2 on Windows 10 and haven't had any specific clipping problems that I recall recently.

Hi gazumped,

Thanks for your reply.

What you said makes sense.  It's just odd to me that they don't have a method for reporting bugs outside of a forum setting (like almost 100% of other web apps do).

The URL of the 'unclippable' page is in my activity log (www.answerthepublic.com).

Thanks again,

Hugh.

Hi again - I had a look at the page and even got a clip of a quick search for 'Evernote' which starts out with interactive visualisations like this - (I copied the image from the page)

Which then seem to translate to something that looks like this - which is the clipped version:

It's an interesting site - thanks for mentioning it!  :)

No worries - you're welcome.

I heard about it during a live webinar by Pat Flynn (from www.smartpassiveincome.com), and thought I'd bookmark it b/c it looks good for getting ideas for content marketing (I've been able to add it manually inside my Evernote.com account, but I'd have preferred to just use the Web Clipper as usual).
