“The note you selected belongs to..."

Occasionally this message appears: “The note you selected belongs to...[my name but not my account name] Would you like to sign in to that account [Cancel or Switch buttons offered] ?" 

How do I find out if I actually have two accounts, and, if so how to merge? They would both be with same email address.

You can have multiple accounts, but each is required to have a unique email id

You know, the account name.  Try logging in with that name.  The web platform has a "Forgot Password"  button

You can't merge accounts but you can transfer the notes between accounts
- shared notebooks
- export/import (Mac/Win)
