Removing the formatting bar once used (maddening)

I select a complete text in a note.

The formatting bar appears and I use it to make changes.

 

I now start clicking all over the page in a desperate attempt to make the formatting bar "go back to base".

But it just won't disappear from the screen.

 

In the end I am reduced to hitting Enter and then ctrl+Z! Lunacy!

 

There must be an easy way to get that bar off the screen.

But I'm damned if I can find it.

Once the formatting bar is up, clicking outside of it should dismiss it. If this is not happening, it's a bug. Can you help me understand what browser you are on and the version so we can address the issue?

I am using Chrome in a Chromebook (Stable Version).
