Missing Content & Not Saving Notes or content

Recommended Posts

I cannot find any solution, any assistance appreciated.

Running Chrome Web, Windows 10 on PC. Basic Subscription.

Also checked android after encountered issue, displaying the same.

A volume of entries, approx 1-2hrs+ work, disappeared from Evernote.

Both partial and new notes.

Past 2hrs approx since I noticed, Evernote is not saving anything since.

It is creating new "Untitled" Notes but not saving the note name or any of the content.

Hi, thanks for your reply.  It was not a limit or syncing issue.

I identified that it was the beta version which caused the issue.  An update must have been made during the day somehow leading to lost data and other bugs after that time.

I did not opt-in to use the beta version.  Users should be notified through clear and formalised opt-in process if they wish to opt-in to testing, in particular obvious early stage beta, where bugs would lead to hours of lost work.

Fortunately (as I hope you discovered) it's easy to opt back to the previous versions of Evernote Web by going to the Settings page.  The Web client is not,  in any case (IMHO) something I would use for anything essential.

Thanks for your input. Not so fortunate losing a couple of hours work.
It actually took a considerable amount of time searching as to what the issue was. It also did not recover any of the lost content.

Are you suggesting Evernote should be used for nothing more than shopping lists?

It is marketing itself as a reliable cross platform tool for a work environment. It should work reliably, regardless of chosen platform or content if that is what is being advertised.

Ironically I had additional issues today where it took over an hour to gain access to the platform. I see there was a new release issued and I wonder if these are what are impacting functionality.

Depends which of the three(?) current clients you're using,  and what you are using it for.  Web Evernote - like every other cloud-sourced app - has to work within the limited space of a browser sandpit and subject to the restricted system access which the browser permits.  Installed Evernote has gigabytes of storage and free access to all standard system resources.  I prefer to use the installed Evernote where I can.  I would use the web client if I had no other choice,  but I would do so mindful of the inherent hazards.  Forinstance I've lost long posts-in-progress on the forum here before now (which is not based on Evernote code) because of some system fault at my,  or my ISP's part so I use a utility called Typio which saves the content of my current post in real time.  If I suddenly see a drop-out I can get my content replaced immediately without further typing.
