  1. Hi! My name's Kip and I've been an Evernote user since 2014. It basically runs my life. As I write, I have 225 notebooks containing 7156 notes, and by tonight there'll be 10 or 20 more. My favorite keystroke is Alt-Shift-M, because I'm constantly switching notes from one notebook to another. I don't use tags much because, if any one tag is shared by more than about a dozen notes, I make a notebook instead. I’ve had two good ideas to share. The first is that, on my system, there’s no such thing as an untitled note. If I have a note that I haven't used yet, it's called “[name of notebook] blank.” Also, until recently, I had my default notebook set to the book with the highest note count, and that was silly, because I was sacrificing a lot of load time. I made a notebook called Start Book, which never has more than about a dozen records in it, and set it as default. New records go to Start Book and then, as soon as it's convenient, I move each record into the notebook where it actually belongs. My productivity team is Evernote, MS-Word because it takes dictation well, and LibreOffice because it's free and not complicated. /panterazero Thank you, Evernote!
  2. How do I delete an accidentally inserted table in Evernote? If I highlight the table, I can delete the cell contents, but not the table itself. thx/p’zero
  3. As I have mentioned in the Discussion forum, I have low vision. When something is highlighted in Evernote, it displays in black on light blue, and it is very difficult for me to see whether something is highlighted or not. Microsoft Word, which highlights by reversing to white on black, is much better in this respect. Is there anything I can do about this in my local installation? PinkElephant advised me to submit this as a ticket, but when I tried to do that, I got Access Denied. thx/panterazero

  5. I am “in love with,” as you put it, being able to read what I myself write and make sure it is accurate, thus not wasting the time of the community. At my age I cannot overcome deficiency of vision. Server-side issues of that caliber startle me. My apologies to the forum.
  6. I am using the latest version of Android Evernote on a Samsung a02s. I dictate a note, and when I save and close and reopen, the note has been truncated after between 15 and 20 lines. The number of lines is variable, not consistent; and this does NOT occur on my Windows HP laptop. Is this a common phenomenon, and what do we do about it? panterazero/Evernote since 2014
  7. Is it possible to do wildcard searches in Evernote, like 9/**/22, and do I have the syntax correct? thx/panterazero
  8. Suggestion. There should be a faster way to Duplicate Note than picking it from a droplist. Is alt-shift-D used for anything yet? thx/panterazero
  9. I have read the discussion about adding wildcards at the beginning and end of a search term, and I understand why it is impossible. However, would it be possible to add wildcards within the bounds of a search term, e. g. 12/*/2020 would return all dates in December 2020? Yours, panterazero
  10. Hi discussion, I'm still looking for a way to change case in Evernote. It's supposed to be shift-F3, the same as in Word, but when I hit either shift-F3 or shift-fn-F3, nothing changes. My version is 10.38.3 which I got by push upgrade yesterday. What am I doing wrong?
  11. I'm trying to change case in Evernote, and jasonfrasca.com says “I discover that Evernote has an awesome little feature built in called Transformations, and I want to share it with you. Evernote Transformations lives under “Edit” in your toolbar and solves one problem, converting case text. Evernote can convert capital case text to lower case text and Evernote can convert lower case text to upper case text or any case text to sentence case text.” Unfortunately, in 10.38.1 which I just got, Transformations is no longer listed under Edit, so what do I do now? thx/panterazero
  12. I know that on my laptop, to move a note from one notebook to another I use alt-shift-M, but how do I do it on my Android phone?
  13. While you're improving the new Settings menu, do you think in Settings/Application you could include Default Font Size? thx/panterazero
  14. Although this thread has wandered far from its roots, I really must present a counter to the original post, because I believe I understand the substance of the debate here. My credentials: I have worked in both software development and application support. I have used Evernote since 2014; I believe that the first distribution I used was 8.xx. I also had recourse to Evernote Legacy at some point in the last couple of years to bypass an annoying bug, which got fixed. I agree that Evernote Legacy was quite intuitive and had a very easy learning curve. There are one or two things about it that I frankly still miss. But today Evernote has grown into a completely different productivity app. Of the applications I use other than social media, I suppose I am in Evernote at least a third of the time. Now, it is certainly possible for a mature application to become so feature-rich that it is topheavy, and I believe that this has happened for example to Microsoft Office, which I no longer use except as a dictation app. My usual remark about Microsoft Word is “Just the thing when you want a nice crunchy bowl of sparklines!” But Evernote is not at that point; it is not toppling with features. It is an application that takes time to learn to use, and more time to learn to use efficiently, but dedicating ths time is worth it. /panterazero
  15. If there is, it's not in my master list of hotkeys, and I thought I had everything. /KC
  16. panterazero here, and I have an idea to save a couple of seconds. In the dialogs like Move and Create, most of the action happens at the upper left, but the act-or-cancel buttons are at the bottom right, so the pointer has to move diagonally across the box. How about puting act-or-cancel at the bottom left, so the pointer can move straight down? (Writing books & seconds matter.)
  17. Honor and power to the stalwarts of Evernote support! Here's what I did or am doing: Step through my notes and either delete them outright, if they’re no longer relevant, or send them to pending trash if they are. (This includes a calendaring system I created that didn’t work.) Update quite a few notes to a later Title syntax. Delete blank notes, on the premise that it’s easier to recreate them. Take all the notes from one notebook and split them into two new ones. (I know where I stand in the tags-vs.-notebooks controversy.) Convert about a dozen notes into templates, and a few back the other way. Figure out which is the most efficient sort order for which job. Begin converting my old boss, who consults for Microsoft, from a OneNote freak to an Evernote freak. Not a bad afternoon’s work, wouldn’t you say? Thanks again! /panterazero
  18. I have one more question, and then I think I will know everything I need to about the way I use Evernote. I have 3,000 notes and the performance on my phone is quite slow, although it's okay on my laptop. I would like to go back to my oldest notes and delete the ones from the back that I no longer need. Is there any way to sort my notes oldest-first? thx/panterazero
  19. Wow, and I thought I already had enough of a treat today with Ctrl-Alt-. for Expand Font, rather than doing it from the droplist! I also downloaded the table of EN hotkeys and reformatted it, and my two remaining questions are: Is there any difference between Ctrl-Alt-V and Win+V, and if so, what? And, does Evernote need a pair of hotkeys for global conversion back and forth between return (Enter) and line feed (Shift-Enter?) thanks for the list of hotkeys!
  20. Good point thx, I just got 10.34.4 (build 3310) /KC (panterazero)
  21. I use Evernote to aggregate news articles, and of course it's been on fire since the beginning of the current Crimean War. I find that news site Share links frequently don't work, or if they do, they serve up a duplicate of the most recent article I downloaded, even after I scroll through the entire article once or twice to make sure the whole thing is read into RAM. There are usually two additional options on news sites called Copy and Nearby Share. If there was a Paste from Clipboard option on the three-dot menu, I could Copy the article to clipboard and then Paste it into a note. Would it be feasible to add this? thx/panterazero
  22. A small UI point w/r/t the “Move note to…” command. Most of the action of an alt-shift-M happens at the left-hand side of the pane, but then the Cancel and Move buttons are all the way at the right. While you're improving accessibility, would it make sense to move those buttons leftward? Second small point, and this may be simply my poor understanding of the Web Clip function. When I'm aggregating articles, the Clip function doesn't always work and often gives me a second copy of the previous article (and yes, I'm careful to read the whole article into ram before I clip,) but the interface generally also offers a Copy option. If the three-dot menu included Paste from Clipboard, I could use Copy from the clipping menu and then Paste from the main menu. Alternatively, what am I not understanding? /panterazero
  23. Thank you all! I've been an Evernote user for eight years, I use it from 6:00 in the morning to 11:00 at night every day, and together with Microsoft Office it is the armature of my data structure. Looking forward to continuing discussion!
