In this case I would try the import using legacy. After you imported the notes into legacy and had them sync with the server, you can resync them with the v10-client.

That worked, thanks! Evernote will be a truly great app when it gets markdown support and the v10 client back up to snuff.

I know people would love to get the ability to automate tasks with  Applescript back as well.

Don't know if you solved this, but I experimented with Bear and came to the same conclusion you did. I ended up on Notion as a replacement, btw.

Here's how I moved my notes from Bear to Evernote when I decided Bear wasn't ready for prime time.

I selected the notes I needed to move, and exported them as HTML files. Opened EN, and dragged the HTML files into a folder in EN. Evernote won't let you import from the File > Import menu, except for .enex files, but if you drag the HTML file into a folder it will read it and import it. Everything came across for me.

If you have images/attachments in Bear, you have to remember to click the "Export Attachments" option when exporting the notes. That will create a folder for your attachments, Evernote will follow the links in HTML to import them.

That may have worked in the past. I  just tried this with Evernote 10.5 for Mac. it creates a blank note and includes the Bear note as a file attachment. No images.

I really liked the new redesign. Markdown support is the only thing missing. I'd happily upgrade to a paid user again once this feature is in.

Same here. I migrated to Bear for the markdown support and cancelled my Evernote subscription. Evernote has a ton of useful features, but I feel like I'm fighting the editor when writing notes. Markdown just flows onto the page and I don't need to take my hands off of the keyboard to format the text to create headers, lists, or links.

What I'm saying that the lack of markdown is important enough to make me leave Evernote, and the features that I lost by leaving are enough to make me return to Evernote if markdown support is added.

  4. Thanks for the update.  There are several apps that I use, such as Hazel, that have had problems adapting to the new read only OS folders, it's not just Evernote that was caught by surprise by Apple's lack of transparency on the release date. I'm sure that there are other problems. My last employer did several mobile app launches. Google was pretty easy to work with, but working with Apple to an app out the door, was difficult. And when the test group reported bugs, it was difficult to push out bug fixes to iOS device as well.

I'm waiting for vendors to get their applications updated and also for Apple to do a few point releases before I upgrade to Catalina.

Something that would be nice is for Evernote to make the Safari 12 version available for people line me who rolled back Safari 13 to Safari 12 and would like to re-install the Web-clipper extension. Unfortunately, I didn't save the installer so now I am stuck

  5. I downgraded my Mac's Safari back to 12( full system reset ) so that I could install Evernote Webclipper for Safari 12  , but I don't have a backup copy of the installer . I can't find out on the evernote site, either.

Does anyone know of a legitimate site that has it?

  6. Apple released Safari 13 early, and there should have been a popup confirmation box that said "warning, your old extensions will stop working, make certain there a version of the extensions you use in the app store before upgrading to Safari 13. Press ok to continue, cancel to cancel the upgrade."

Working like this on Win10. Not working on a Mac, however.

You can either set up an automator service or use a tool like Hazel to automatically scan  and import documents into Evernote.

here is the script I use in Hazel:

    tell application "Evernote"
    	activate
    	create note from file theFile
    end tell

  8. I'm trying to edit a saved search to add "-tag:archive" condition to the current "has tag" conditions, but I can only add "has tag" and not "does not have tag" to the saved search conditions. You can see a screenshot of me experimenting to try an add it.

I can probably delete my saved search and recreate it with the conditions I want, but I shouldn't have to do that. here is my Evernote version running on MacOS 10.14.

Am I crazy? or can you not add "does not have tag" conditions in the saved search editor?

    5. See all cookies and site data
    6. Search for Evernote

I don't have a cookie by that name, but thanks for showing me where Evernote cookies are. That could come in handy in the future!

i figured out how to set up evernote in the new ScanSnap Home App

    https://www.pfu.fujitsu.com/imaging/downloads/manual/ss_webhelp/en/help/webhelp/topic/ope_appli_mgr.html

but it seems short on options....before when the profile dialog box popped up, there were more options such as save as pdf and as jpg, and i a setting to convert a pdf to a scannable pdf, etc.

    unless im missing something?

p.s. is there a fujistsu forum?

That page doesn't mention Evernote, so I am curious how you did it. I configure it to place files in a folder that Hazel app watches, It runs a script that imports pdf's in that folder into Evernote.

However, I'd rather have scans to directly into Evernote.

Hi @csihilling. I just executed the procedure and it worked fine for me. I'm on a Mac with Sierra and my default browser is Chrome. When I click the daily email links they open on the desktop app (and open a browser window as well)

    Eduardo

What is the procedure? I'm having the same issue where Evertnote reminder links I get in emails open in the browser instead of the Evernote App. Why do I have an Evernote app then?

  12. +1 this idea. It still a problem in 2019.

+1 this idea. I'm having the same issue with multiple email clients. I use gmail Web, Apple Mail, and Airmail . What I do it click on "forward" and put my Evernote forwarding address in the "To" field. Then I send it.

The note has the subject and body of the forwarded email , but I cannot see the original From/To information.

The use case that it causes a problem with for me is when I register an account and receive a confirmation that the account is created, I forward the email to Evernote so that I can remember which of my many email addresses I used to register the account with.

I'm working on a project to consolidated accounts to a single email address, which will alleviate this issue eventually. However, if  I am prompted for the accounts email address in order to perform password recovery, and the Evernote note does''t tell me the address the registration email was sent to , then I have to guess which email address I used.

Hi. I have been having the same issue.

I recently noticed, when you're in the reminders view, if you click “filter by tags” to change to a different tag, it will remember that you're in the reminders view.

    uVnW0t3v3SBMd2ZD04dcuNgZ4r563xr97TCqVyRTaQw2q3bkgTwVK-ptrADRMmX_vahlKKMUte7dpu2qVT8FklMdIA5t-GD0cSvrCpdkbDgrUKMJWoLJq6lzKEl8cCYRpizUHGNL

Also, if you use “Command + J” (on Mac) to navigate from note, notebook, or tags, it will remember that you're in the reminders view.

    _9T8Bjvxwc4OqQhizOtLZagi6v2yOnS5dc8jYSJ1XlOChr4qnaiIodWJm1qmC9Fk3d4W4aWy6_CeMOl7ADPPct7sX1J59MqgUnYzyOgLqCwJKcb-rNEmRgC8h3veE4O20pUCyT5K

Before I figured this out, I would usually use the shortcuts panel for navigating.

    Hope this helps.

    I tested this  by

    1. Navigating to All Notes -> Reminders in the Mac app
    2. Then I pressed cmd + J  and selected "inbox"
    3. Then I switched back to "All Notes" expecting it to open reminders tab
    4. It opened the Notes Tab :(

Everyone is going to have their own preference on how to display reminders, but I think most would agree it they are important enough to always have at least a link to them visible in the user interface for one-click access.

    This could be done

    In the sidebar

    In the top menu bar

or ( not my recommendation ) have a dedicated "reminders" panel / pane . if you have user the Chrome developer tools, the Reminder pane would be one of those panes.

  15. +1 this feature request. When I take notes I want them to all look the same for the sake of readability. My typing skills suck. I can rarely find cmd opt v on the keyboard by I can always find cmd+v so that is what I use. If we could get the option to remap keys to swap cmd+opt+v and cmd+v that would be great.

For example, It's been several minutes that I'm trying to find a way to remove formatting from some text a pasted from a document that is no longer open. If I could have just pasted without formatting, it would have saved a significant amount of time.

  16. I took a quick look and Bear and Simplenote are worth checking out. Also, if you like markdown you could create a gitlab account and sync your notes ( manually though ) to multiple devices that way as long as you have git.

You can do the same with gitlab but you have to pay to keep your  notes private.

I am having the same issue on my MacBook Pro running Sierra 10.12.6. Evernote launches with no window. Rebooting does not fix the problem, but completely uninstalling the app does fix the problem (note: dragging the app to trash doesn't work, you have to completely scrub the app from the machine), but when you reboot, the problem comes back. I am running Evernote 6.13.1 from the App Store.

I had this issue today. Rebooting did not fix it, but uninstalling and reinstalling did. I run an app called Hazel that automates file tasks. When I uninstalled Evernote, it prompted me to remove associated files which I did . I reinstalled it, logged in, and made sure that it worked. I then rebooted and verified that it's still working.,

Now, for how long I don't know, but it is working.

    Evernote version: 6.13.1

I so want an option for pinning a note. I dont like to change the date of my notes.

please, make it happen. Eagerly waiting for this feature.

    Thanks

Same here. I'm always changing how notes are sorted, to I need a unique note attribute that designates that it should always be on top.I tried reading through the explanation of the reminders technique but it was TLDR. and if it's that long, it's too complicated to be useful

the process should be this simple:

    1. choose note to pin
    2. click on pin icon on note
    3. note moves to the top of the notes list

    done.

  19. Two-step auth did not work for me.  After setup, my PC client won't log me in....

What os and browser are you using? What are the steps that you followed to enable 2 factor authentication?

2 factor authentication works so smoothly for me, it's hard for me to imagine people are having problems with it. But maybe I can give you some ideas to try to get it working .

  20. Two-step authentication seems to break compatibility with my Sony PRS-T2 ebook reader. The device includes a built in Evernote client which worked fine. It's used for synchronizing data and to save links or text snippets.

Now I was trying to access Evernote for sending a link from within an ebook. I got a "account not setup" message. When I was trying to setup my account, I always get an "user name or password invalid" error. My login data is correct, I just verified with it the web interface.

So what's going on here? Does two-step authentication breaks old apps? From this thread I got the conclusion that old apps should still work.

    Is there any workaround available?

It will break them if the app is not update to handle Evernote 2 factor security. Evernote generally gives 3rd party developers plenty of notice of changes ahead of time. It's up to the app developer to update their application to account for the change(s).  Have you placed a support request with Sony?

  21. Sure you can. When the QR code is presented program it into multiple authenticators.

I saved the setup QR code into an encrypted note in lastpass. So Ican setup a new authentication device if/as needed. This would generally be less secure except that I have Lastpass geographically restricted and second factor secured with a Yubikey.

This is genius. I was wondering how to manage multiple/new iOS devices that need google authenticator set up on them. What prompted it was getting a new iPad and realizing that I could not regenerate the QR code necessary to make it work with Evernote. I saved the code image as well, keeping it in an encrypted location.
