  1. I like that there is a new task widget. I do have a question. Are there options to show what tasks show up in the widget? For example I would like to show Flagged tasks in the widget. I dont see options for viewing the widget.

I have no words for the mediocrity that evernote has sunk to

I do not agree with this assessment. I think EN is getting better and I’m happy with the progress so far. As said above bugs will happen and anyone who uses software understands that. Tasks is still of great value to me. I’m excited about the current and future direction of EN. No I don’t work for them. Haha. If you don’t agree simply use a different app.

  3. One issue I am having is my reminders are showing up way ahead of time. Many of them 1 month or more ahead of when they should. Haven’t figured this out yet. I’ve obviously checked my dates and reminder dates. For example several due August 1 went off today. This has been happening with different ones for about a week. I thought it was an anomaly at first. Anyone else?

  4. Liked the Behind the Scenes thing they just did on Tasks on YouTube. Sounds like this is a high priority for EN and I’m glad to hear it. Would love to not use an outside task manager and for me this is almost there. I will dump Things 3 if a couple more pieces are added. (Recurring and Snooze). Recurring based on completed date would be awesome but not being picky here.

This functionality is “sticky” as well meaning it will glue users to the platform.

Hi @MauricioMatias, I'd love to hear your experience with using task reminders so far. What client(s) have you used them on? Any specific things you expect to happen that you don't see happen? Thanks!

@silentquest Agree! Snoozing a reminder is a request we want to pursue soon.

I have been using the new Tasks in EN for the past few days. It has been a good experience and I am excited that EN has this. I am working around some of the missing pieces but I like the way it is set up. The summary view is awesome. I'm in it all day. Really the only requests I have are ability to snooze and recurring reminders. Other things people mention in these posts are great too but these are most important to me. The client I use the most by far is my iPhone 12 Pro Max. It's really my computer these days. Between my Apple watch and my phone I can do 99% of what I need to do. I also have EN on my MacBook but I rarely use that. I really like that the same functionality is present regardless of the platform. That is huge as I am by far mostly IOS. Thank you for asking. I like the direction EN is going now.

  6. Love this!! Just a couple of pieces of functionality and I will dump my task manager. I think EN did a great job of this in the first iteration though. I hope full functionality will be available for Premium users.

    • need to be able to snooze tasks not just reschedule reminders or add multiple reminders
    • true recurring tasks: keeps a record that you completed the task this week for example and puts another task to be completed in next week.
    • Show date and time task completed.
    • move the tasks section above shortcuts in the sidebar
    • would love to be able to tag tasks too. for me not critical though

EN is becoming indispensable for me again and I welcome it!

  7. thank you. so it would be reminderOrder.* -reminderTime:day+1 -reminderDoneTime.* ? to give uncompleted past reminders and todays uncompleted reminders?

Unfortunately I cant test it right now because I dont currently have any past reminders and EN will not let me put a reminder in the past.

  8. I wonder if someone could help with this. I want saved search that brings up reminders due today and non completed reminders up to 7 days in the past.

I have had instances where if I didnt complete a reminder on the day it was due it kind of drops off my list and I loose track of it.

What I have so far is reminderTime:day -reminderTime:day+1 which give me a list of items due today. I would like all completed reminders not to show on my list.

Thank you in advance. I have looked around but cannot find a way to do what I need.

An important requirement is date specific tasks
Due date is supported in the Reminder feature

Next actions are also important, supported by non-dated reminders
Reminders also support a completion date/status

I'm glad I found this thread. I just came back to EN after spending a couple of years in apple notes. I didnt realize how much I missed basic features of EN. I too use tags as my organization. So much more flexible than notebooks.

As to reminders, I love this feature in EN. I'm interested in the above however. What are "non dated reminders?" How does that work? ...and when I complete a reminder, there is a completion date? I dont see that. That would be useful. ....and due date is just the reminder date correct?

This is a list of what I missed about EN. I dabbled in Notion but think I would spend all my time tinkering.

    • ability to change the creation date. Crucial for my journal if I forget to put the note in on the actual day something happened.
    • reminders in the app without having to use an outside task manager
    • tags structure, searchable tags
    • web clipper, of course
    • Shortcuts
    • Integration: the new version isn't great yet but since this is a main feature of EN I'm sure it will get better.
    • iOS note editor- color. Compared to Apple Notes? The new editor is a winner for me.
    • Innovation / Focus: Sounds funny to say about EN right? But this is what EN does. With Apple, Notes is an after thought. A place holder. It doesn't even have tags.
    • I actually like the new version. There are some features missing I'm waiting for but I like it. I really like the implementation of dark mode and on my iPhone it looks really sharp. I have to like looking at whatever app I use.
    • What I would like to see in the future? My main thing is beef up the reminders feature. repeating, snooze, repeat on completion date (example if I have a reminder that says change the A/C filter on Jan 3 but I dont actually do it until Jan 5, schedule 3 months from Jan 5 not Jan 3.)
    • Would like to see better security features.
I REALLY hope EN follows through with what they are saying so I dont have to leave again. Since coming back I am already so much more productive than with Apple Notes. Thanks for the positive thread. Most of what is on the forum is depressing and negative. haha.

  10. I am mystified by this one. I set up a tag on the mac called Errands. I assigned that tag to 3 notes. When i click on the tag itself those 3 notes display. When I go to the general search bar to search for the tag errands it does not come up as a tag. When I look at the IOS app, I see the tag Errands (3) on the tags list. When I click on the tag to bring up the notes associated with that tag nothing appears. If I try to do a general search on errands the tag does not come up.

All other tags seem to be working normally. I am really confused by this one. Anyone have any ideas?

  11. I am having the same issue as all above! EN is now completely unusable on my mac. I am on the latest version of Mac OS. Nothing seems to work. Pressing Restart or Quit does nothing but bring up the same error. When I forced quit as stated above I got many little Evernotes. Now I cannot open the app at all without the error immediately popping up. Please fix ASAP!!

  12. Really torn between using apple notes or EN which has so much more functionality. My perception maybe wrongly is that EN security is not as good because Apple does not have a business model of mining my data or sharing it and their privacy policies are fairly stringent.

Thank you so much for your replies. I look to you users with thousands of notes and years of history for a level of comfort. When I read all the hoops you guys are going through on your own to protect data it made me pause.
