Unfortunately, I have to totally agree with your statement above. Same here, long term user and now really frustrated:
Main window and Search Window -> blank page ... restart does not help
My loved "feature" to connect notes with internal links now leads to always opening the main window as well and is clearly a step back in user experience
Overall really quite slow and buggy
No preferences anymore .... Evernote, are you kidding us? ... can't change default note font size ... always have to manually select all and increase it
Horrible UX ... who ever came up with this and tested it ... no comment
