I have the same problem but only when the main Evernote screen is maximized. IF the main Evernote Screen is maximized, when I double-click on a note, the note will appear on a second monitor that's no longer hooked up to my PC. IF the main Evernote Screen is Windowed, then the problem goes away and the note opens up as it should. I hope this works for others as well.
