  1. After having used Obsidian sync for the past 3 weeks I can say that I should have left EverNote sooner (but I was overwhelmingly emotionally tied to EverNote). Obsidian sync is amazingly fast, and without sync issues. I have about a dozen computers all syncing to the cloud, and I am running the client in 5 different operating systems (Linux, MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android). The client speed is substantially faster than EverNote, especially when compared to v10 which was miserably slow on some of my machines. Search works much faster and more accurately. I also like being able to see all of my individual notes and files. The only thing I miss from EverNote is the simplicity.
  2. Obsidian is able to sync the unknown file types, even if it doesn't know what to do with them.
  3. I have been a dedicated and paying customer of Evernote since 2008. The abrupt and unexpected decision by Bending Spoons to shut down Evernote V10 for Linux, followed by the announcement that Evernote Classic (that I could run in WINE on Linux) will be discontinued next month, has made it exceedingly difficult for me to maintain an efficient workflow in Linux. Furthermore, the web client is not a suitable alternative for me as I require the ability to have multiple note windows open simultaneously. This sudden action by Bending Spoons reflects a lack of consideration for their customers, and as a result, I have made the decision to terminate my subscription with them. I have promptly migrated all my notes to Obsidian, a superior tool that offers greater functionality and scalability compared to Evernote, and at a more affordable price.
  4. Just being able to edit a note in text-only w/ markdown would give us a code block
  5. Adding plug-ins to Evernote would enable this feature request and so many more! Sequence of use: A user could be editing a note Swich to the plug-in math editor edit the equation in either a visual editor, or a text-only code input switch to evernote default HTML to view the equation
  6. The classic Evernote allowed us to specify the default font used for body text in all notes. As most of my notes are plain text, I use "Noto Sans Mono" because it is very easy for me to distinguish between characters such as 1il or o0O. The default monospace font in the new Evernote is okay but not great, and there is no option to make it the default for every note. This would have enormous benefit to all of us who work in plain-text, but also for those who want distraction-free editing, and for those who need Dyslexic fonts or low-vision font needs. People who work in plain-text are very specific about their preferred monospace font. There are websites dedicates to this topic. My request is: Create a systemwide setting for fonts. Default can of course be the Evernote built-in fonts. And fallback would go to these fonts if the specified system font is missing. Users can select the default font type: monospace, serif, sans, slab, etc... Users can assign their preferred system font for each of the font types. Users can specify if the selection is for all notes on this computer only, or global to every installation of evernote on every computer the user logs into (okay, this is more of a stretch goal)
  7. I would love to be able to quicly change any note that i am presently editing to text-only or text-only w/markdown Why? For ease-of use, and speed. Half of my notes are plain text. The other half are formatted with the complexity of basic markdown (like github flavored markdown https://github.github.com/gfm/ ) I view all of my notes in monospace fonts only, with "noto sans mono" being my favorite for legibility. I would love to be able to quicly change any note that i am presently editing to switch: FROM Evernote default (which I think is HTML) TO (either - need to make a choice at the time of switching) Plain-text Plain-text with Markdown And then switch back to HTML to view the formatted markdown, and any inline images or attachments. I would only need this feature to be added to the non-mobile versions of evernote: Linux, MacOS, Windows. I would not need this feature on Android or iOS (but I can see how some tablet users with a keyboard would want this feature. Okay I convinced myself that this feature should be present on all versions of Evernote. STRETCH GOAL: You could make Evernote even extra awesome by allowing editor plug-in's, the way that standard notes works, where we could also add in a VIM editor, etc.
  8. I would love to be able to switch any note from the default HTML to plain text and then to markdown and then back again.
  9. I have to replace my Apple iPad Air 2 (A8X CPU) because Evernote is unusable, it is miserably slow. I have an iPhone 13 (A15 CPU) which runs Evernote fairly well. It seems that my iPad choices: iPad (standard) 9th generation, A13 CPU. iPad Air 4th generation, A14 CPU. The standard costs half as much as the air, so I would rather buy that one. Can anyone comment on how well Evernote performs on the A13 CPU? This is the same CPU that is in the iPhone 11. I am concerned about going too old on the apple CPU because my previous iPhone Xr (A12 CPU) struggled with Evernote.
  10. EverNote on MacOS just updated to 10.29.7-mac-ddl-public (3186) and suddenly thousands of my existing notes are one of these two options based on light/dark mode setting: Black text on dark grey background (dark mode) Light grey text on white background (light mode) But if I make a new note, then the colors are appropriate. I have an example of old (left) vs new (right) notes shown on the attachment. Would you please fix whatever you did to this most recent release and send out an updated version!
  11. I feel you bro. I've been with EverNote 10+ years, perhaps 12? My entire life both personally and professionally is tied around EverNote. I have over 2500 notes and losing a single one would be a mess for me, and migrating to another platform would be a nightmare. It is the pain of the migration that is keeping me on EverNote. I have tried just about every EverNote alternative out there and there are no good alternatives for me other than Standard Notes. I signed up to their 5 year plan, paid them the $150, and I will give them some feature requests - just two would make their platform a perfect replacement for EverNote. The EverNote Electron-based apps may be consistent between platforms but they are painfully slow. I just upgraded from iPhone Xs to 13 and saw a massive performance improvement, so there's hope that in a few years of replacing my other mobile devices that they can run the Electron EverNote apps. Sadly I do not have the classic apps o on my mobile devices, but I am definitely running the classic apps on my computers: MacOS, Windows, Linux (using WINE)
  12. I am still using EverNote classic but recently took a peek at the latest EverNote 10 again. I am unable to turn off the note panel, so even if I reduce it in size it never goes completely away and takes up too much space on my screen. I use EverNote where the left panel notebooks and tags are on the left side of the screen, and the note list takes up the remainder of the screen. if i want to see the contents of a note, i double click it and open it up full screen. so please add a feature to turn on or off the note panel.
