  1. Here's what Evernote Support replied, about removing the constant slash-command prompt 😡🤷🏻‍♂️
  2. I have exactly the same grievance, as I really don't need to be reminded of a feature I don't use, literally every time I press Enter. For what it's worth, I've opened a ticket with Evernote Support to see whether/when it will be removed (or at least turned into a feature that can be disabled via the Note settings), and I'll post back here once I get a response. Hopefully sooner rather than later, before I resort to the optional drug use that @gazumped helpfully suggested above 🫠
  3. Thanks for answering, @gazumped. I'm at home, on a normal Wifi network, on a Macbook Air, and using v.10.78.2. In the meantime, I was away from EN for about an hour...I've just gone back to it, and things seem to be working again (whereas they noticeably weren't before), so maybe it was just a server issue, yes. All good now — thanks again 🙂
  4. Since this morning, I can no longer: open certain frequently-used notes, which aren't particularly heavy or full of links and images. They're basically just text. attach images via the EN helper "screen-shot/screen-cropper" function, which I use a lot. EN will spend about a minute buffering (or whatever the little rotating circle is in the middle of the screen, telling me "one moment while we attach your file"), and then I get an error message saying "Something went wrong when adding your attachment. Please try again." Obviously, "trying again" yields the same lack of results. (I have looked through the forums using various keywords, but haven't found anything describing what I'm experiencing.) I uninstalled EN completely and reinstalled it, and I'm still having those same problems. Is anyone else having them? Perhaps I need to do a clean? Many thanks +++ Edited to add: As of now, I can't create a new note, either.
  5. Interesting. Thanks for the additional info, PE.
  6. I just noticed that the Evernote (for Mac) user interface has been tweaked yet again. Now, when I create a note, the text remains left-aligned by default...but it seems to include a left-hand margin that is so wide that, at first glance, it almost looks like my text is centre-aligned. Checking as of now, the right-hand margin is similarly abnormally wide. Is there any way of reducing / re-aligning the margins, so that text / note content looks more normal? I do not need a 1-to-2 inch margin all around my note.
  7. Thank you, @agsteele — that's particularly helpful, since I'm based in Switzerland. 👍
  8. Hello, Does anyone know the legal/privacy ramifications of this policy update? I opened my account from a country outside of the US, Canada, or Brazil (I'm in Switzerland), so my account was handled by Evernote's Swiss subsidiary. Now that it's apparently being migrated to a subsidiary in the US (along with everyone else who isn't based in the 3 aforementioned countries), what does that change? I'm not sure about the assurances of "no impact on your use of the Evernote Service", as I'm fairly certain privacy and data protection laws are different in the US. Any thoughts?
  9. Thank you, PinkElephant. I'll follow your advice on the forum thread regarding laggy EN on Windows (AppCleaner, Uninstall, Re-download), and see if it works. Will report back here via edit of this comment. EDIT: Thanks again — I had to reapply my personal settings/views/sort options, but other than that, it worked a charm. Steps I took: > Downloaded AppCleaner and used that to uninstall Evernote. > Shut down Mac completely. > Restarted Mac; went to EN website and re-downloaded/reinstalled latest EN >> Keyboard and trackpad reactivity are now back to normal 🎉 I'm marking @Boot17's answer above as the solution for this thread specifically, but the original suggestion in the link provided is from @PinkElephant. Thank you both.
  10. Hello Boot17, thanks for the helpful links — I'll have a look at them shortly. I'm running the most recent Evernote version for Mac (see image). I'm not sure I want to temporarily defect to the web version, as I find that even more user-unfriendly. At the moment, the only version of Evernote that's functioning in an acceptable way is what I have on my Android smartphone. I'll raise this with Support via the chat function to see what's going on, but there's something like a 9-hour time difference. Will post back here with any news. Cheers!
  11. Hello, I'm using EN on a Macbook Air (macOS 14.1.1). After getting prompted just now to update, the scrolling feature in EN is now extremely laggy. I use a column layout (left, notebooks; middle, notes; right, note preview), and in any of the panes, when I want to scroll up or down using my trackpad, EN doesn't immediately respond. I've just noticed there's a similar lag when clicking on "New" to create a new note or task: the drop-down menu only slowly fades into view (takes 5-10 seconds), and the same with right-clicking anywhere, to pull up the options menu. If I do multiple rapid "scroll-ups", for example, it seems to accumulate my commands, and then it shoots to the top of the column. It's like the upgrade has removed any fine-motor, precision control of how users can scroll. I've also seen that the "Backlinks" feature and the "Move Note" button within the notes have been removed, but that's not my main concern. (In the case of the "Move Note" button, it hasn't been removed, but it's become invisible — if I hover over where it used to be with my cursor, the function still exists.) Anyone else experiencing this? EDIT: Actually, it's laggy, overall. Even when writing in a new note, the words I type don't appear immediately (like they do in this post right now, for example). I can finish typing a whole word before it starts to appear in the EN note. The overall responsiveness any keyboard actions/commands has been significantly eroded.
  12. Thank you, agsteele. That seems to have improved things somewhat. I'll keep an eye on this and toggle that setting if the problem reoccurs.
  13. Hello, I'm on a MacBook Air, using Ventura 13.5.2. Apologies if this is a known issue — I checked the existing threads briefly, but didn't see quite the same issue raised. This week so far, individual notes on the web version (not having the same problem on EN for Android) have been so slow to open or sync, that it has affected my productivity and obliged me to renegotiate deadlines with clients. My usual preview set-up is the "3 columns/panes", so I have stacks and notebooks in the left column, notes and reminders in the middle, and individual note preview in the larger right column. Current issues: When clicking once on a note in the middle column, EN either: fails to display it in the preview column; or displays a note in the preview column, but it isn't the note I've clicked. When double-clicking a note in the middle column: a new window will open, but it will not display anything (spinning circle showing that it's loading...but this has taken up to 10 minutes). I have already uninstalled and re-downloaded the web version, yesterday, but it made no noticeable difference. I'm a simple user and really not very tech-literate 🙈 — is there a quick fix I'm unaware of? Or is it an ongoing issue that's being looked into? Many thanks in advance. Matt
  14. Thank you, Pink Elephant. As I said, there have been no updates or or changes on my side since this happened, but I'll check again. Edit: It's working now (with no changes to settings). Maybe it was a server lag, or slow internet on my side. Thanks again, in any case!
  15. Hello, and apologies if this has been addressed before. I've seen a post regarding copying images into notes and those images not copying to the clipboard, so this issue may be similar/related. When I use the Evernote Helper capture selection function, as I do countless times daily, as of today, it no longer works. Usually, once I've selected the area of screen I want to capture, it saves automatically as a new note titled "Screen capture", and I can see it in my Recent Notes shortcut list. As of today, no screen capture note is generated — it doesn't seem to be capturing at all. I don't think this relates to permissions or settings, as the feature was working (although sometimes shakily) up until yesterday, and I've made no changes and there have been no upgrades since then. Is this a known issue? (Probably is.) Many thanks! Edit 1: I just uninstalled EN and downloaded the latest version for Mac, from the website. Same problem. Edit 2: The screen captures have just appeared in my Recent Files shortcuts, with an approx. 15-minute lag.
  16. Ab👏so👏lute👏ly perfect It was the "Screen Recording" option. I wasn't even aware of this option, but somehow over the past couple of days, it became unclicked. Thank you so much!
  17. Many thanks, PinkElephant. (Thanks also for the correction in terminology--noted!) I tried those steps you suggested, and after logging back in, when clicking on the EN helper, it does either of two things: It just gives the options "Sign in to Evernote" and "Quit Evernote"...even though I've already logged back in It gives the regular options of "Clip full screen" and "Click rectangle or window", but it doesn't clip my selection; instead, it just returns a black window, or some pre-formatted image. In the meantime, I found some similar issues on another forum thread (here), so perhaps the EN helper tends to be a bit wonky, and it'll be resolved in due course. Thanks anyway!
  18. First of all, apologies--I'm not sure I'm getting the names for the various features right. I'm using Evernote on iOS 11.5.2 (Big Sur). On my screen (Safari browser), there are two "elephant" buttons that allow me to clip whatever I like from my screen. There's a green elephant next to my URL line that is the actual web clipper (only clipping what is displayed within the browser window), and at the top bar of my screen (same line as date, time, battery level, File, Edit, View, etc.), there's a white elephant, which is another sort of clipper, but one that I use much more, because it allows me to select anything on the entire screen (not just within a browser). Since a couple of days, this no longer works. I got a message telling me to enable it in my Privacy settings, which I think I did, but it still doesn't work. Could anyone help?
  19. Thanks @PinkElephant, but the quotation marks don't work either. (Neither do underscores, like I said.) Perhaps it isn't possible. Not a huge deal, but would've been more of a "nice to know". Cheers
  20. Hello, Probably a basic question, but when I email an article (or anything) to my Evernote and want to include tags that consist of multiple words, what is the correct format to use? For example, I created tags such as "freelance translation", or "language volunteer work", and it's no problem to add these to a note already within Evernote, but in an email where you put the tag in the subject line (in last place), I've tried writing the words out separately, all together as one word, separated by full stops, and separated by underscores. None of these work. It's not a major issue. It would just be convenient, if it's possible. Thanks for any tips!
