Speech To Text Question

How do you end, and save, a Speech2Text note. I have added the widget to my home screen so I can just click on it when driving or walking to create a note. Is there a way to trigger the end or bring up the check mark to save. It seems after I'm through talking - it's usually just a few seconds - it takes another 5-10 seconds for the checkmark to appear in the corner. If I have to keep looking at the screen or fumble around, it defeats the purpose. If I try to close the widget, assuming it would auto-save, I get the discard warning. 

Ideally, this widget could be tied to a side button and closing it auto-saves.
