Problem with update

I received a note that there was an update to Evernote that needed to be downloaded.  When I clicked on the donwload and install my virus program came up with a detection of "MalSigh.Generic.CDC".  When I asked for more information it stated it was a generic Trojan Horse.  How should I proceed?

What do you mean by "note"?  Did you receive an email about the update?

The only notice of update that you should receive is from the Evernote app itself.

If you receive an email with a link to the update, it is almost certainly NOT from Evernote, but from a hacker.

 

If it were me (I would not clicked on a "update" email) at this point, I would

1. Immediately disconnect my computer from the network (both local and Internet) the system is on.
2. run my anti-virus checker and remove any viruses found.
3. Restart and run the anti-virus checker again.
