Doc Pete 0
Hi,When I opened Evernote desktop today to sync material from my livescribe pen, I received a message that an upgrade was available. I have previously upgraded without problem so clicked OK. However it reached a point where it told me "Evernote v. 5..8.6 Setup The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files 9c86)\Evernote\Evernote. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."So the uppgrade cancelled however it meant the existing desktop version had been removed from my system. I came to Evernote online and downloaded the new Windows version directly onto my computer, selected "Run as Administrator" to commence installing, but it still stalled with the same message. What is the problem here? Much appreciate your help Peter Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,078 Posted May 8, 2015 Level 5* Share Posted May 8, 2015 Hi. Not sure what may have changed here, but there's a previous thread on the error - https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/45240-installation-insufficient-privileges/ Which references a link to alter permissions here - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/ (Despite the Vista title, TakeOwnership works on my Win 8.0 and 8.1 systems.)
