Notes not saving

I am adding comment in the notes section to existing notes - they appear, but as soon as you move to a different note to add to that, when you return to the previous note all the changes have gone. I appear to have two formats of note, these ones have a rectangular box with a greyed 'Add Notes..' comment in them. I have the latest version, and have tried syncing and re-loading etc. I am using a macbook pro and have a premium account.

Any help welcome. I have read several discussions on this topic, but no relevant answers.
