Bug report - standard selection behavior overridden

I'm going to call this a bug, but it might be a feature request:

 

When editing:

 

Normal behavior in iOS 8

1. Tap on a word quickly and if it's not spelled correctly, it will be highlighted in a pale pink and you'll get options for auto-correct.
2. Double-tap a word and it gets highlighted in the usual way (blue with the handles at start and end) and you get a little pop-up menu for doing various things with it.

Evernote behavior

1. The pale pink highlighting comes and goes immediately, and the autocorrect menu along with it, leaving the word selected in the normal way (blue with handles), without any pop-up menu.
2. The pop-up menu appears and disappears right away.

These two bugs seem to be related, in that they involve selection and pop-up menus. In both cases, Evernote is somehow not allowing the standard iOS behavior, or it's quickly shutting it down. This is a big pain when trying to edit.

Thanks for your feedback - I agree this can be painful sometimes. We've been battling this issue since Apple released iOS 7 which changed the behavior for our note editor screen. Unfortunately, there is not an easy fix. We'll continue to work on it however.
