Substitutions

When I select text in a Note, then choose Substitutions from the contextual menu, then click "Show Substitutions," the "Replace All" and "Replace in Selection" buttons are disabled. This means that there is no way (that I can discover) to change dumb quotes to smart quotes in a document all at once.

 

What's going wrong here?

Unlike EN Win, EN Mac does NOT offer a "Replace" function.  

 

It has been requested for years, but to no avail.

Ah. I was aware of the Find and Replace issue, but it did not occur to me that this was an aspect of it. That is deeply frustrating. Does anyone know of an Evernote replacement for Mac? I'd switch wholly to MacJournal, but I need Shared notes.

There are some options, but I haven't see just ONE app that will replace Evernote yet.
