Vinz 0
I am having this same problem since October 17th. I have Windows XP, Service Pack 3 Evernote doesn't sync and says "synchronization failed. cannot connect to the server" I believe this has to do with the change that occured on October 17th that evernote will no longer be able to sync on Windows XP unless it has Sevice Pack 3...... But I already had Service Pack 3. Any ideas? Link to comment
Ernesto Che 1
Hi I some how solved this.Open internet explorer -> Tools ->Internet options -> Advanced -> (tick mark / enable)Use SSL and Use TLS (Actually internet explorer was not able to connect to "https://www.evernote.com/Home.action" . By enabling SSL and TLS, now my internet explorer browser was able to connect to evernote.com) Try this, Gud luck Link to comment
Ernesto Che 1
Again, don't enable "automatic updates" from evernote. New version seems to have some complications Link to comment
Vinz 0
What about using evernote from the app and not the web browser though? I never use evernote from the web browser Link to comment
Vinz 0
I tried what you said and it works now!!!!! Link to comment
Ernesto Che 1
I use both app and browser. Mozilla was able to connect but Internet explorer was unable to connect. That is what is a bug in evernote! So, don't enable "automatic update" Link to comment

pvcx 0
Thanks! Changing SSL and TLS worked for me too. BUT, I figured out this is because of the recently reported SSL 3 vulnerability. Web sites are removing support for SSL 3 since it is not secure. So you should clear/untick the SSL boxes in Internet Explorer and set/tick the TLS boxes. In fact, you should disable SSL 3 on all your browsers. For more, read https://zmap.io/sslv3/ Good luck Link to comment
Evernote Staff charboyd 272 Posted October 20, 2014 Evernote Staff Share Posted October 20, 2014 Hi I some how solved this.Open internet explorer -> Tools ->Internet options -> Advanced -> (tick mark / enable)Use SSL and Use TLS (Actually internet explorer was not able to connect to "https://www.evernote.com/Home.action" . By enabling SSL and TLS, now my internet explorer browser was able to connect to evernote.com) Try this, Gud luck Security researchers at Google announced the discovery of POODLE, an internet-wide vulnerability in SSL3, a legacy web security standard. Most web services, including Evernote, still support SSL3 because it’s used by older browsers and operating systems. To protect our users and visitors, Evernote shut off SSL3 support on Friday, October 17th PDT. (as you've already realized) If Evernote for Windows is not syncing please perform the following actions: - Update your Windows OS to Windows XP SP3 or newer. - Update Internet Explorer to version 8 or newer. - Confirm that the necessary security settings are enabled in Internet Explorer. - Internet Explorer > Settings > Internet Options > Advanced. Check "Use TLS 1.0 / 1.1 / 1.2". - The settings screen may look different depending on your version of IE, but it will look something like this: http://note.io/1ySKJ7e You can also read more about this issue on our Knowledge Base at - https://evernote.com/contact/support/kb/#!/article/101867943 If you are still having issue, please create a support ticket with the Evernote Support team.
