(Archived) Updated and synced my local notes. I lost 5 months worth of notes!

Idea

I was having a sync issue for a long time but it never bothered me since I only use Evernote locally on my work desktop. I finally submitted a ticket and discovered I was using an outdated version (I guess I disabled auto updates at some point).

After the sync, it rolled back my local notes to the last version of my cloud sync, which was 5 months ago. I have lost 100's of notes with incredibly important info I need for my job. Freaking out!

If anyone can guide me on how to possibly restore my local data, I would appreciate it. I don't have TimeMachine or any other backup of my Evernote locally.

Thanks

Hi. Welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear about this. Evernote takes any case of potential data loss quite seriously, so you'll want to start a support ticket as soon as possible (see my signature) and get things moving. Your data may yet be recoverable. If it were me, I'd also turn off syncing and close Evernote today to avoid causing any more problems. Post your support ticket number here and keep us updated. Good luck!

Thanks much. Certainly hoping I can salvage it. Open ticket under #16051-124190 which I noted the issue.

Was just hoping someone might have an immediate solution here while I wait for an answer. Catching major heat at work regarding things I need from notes, so I am game to try anything.

I wouldn't tempt fate by mucking around with it...

I had a similar problem and after 2 weeks of totally useless support from Evernote i don´t know what else to do

I did the update to their latest version and lost most of my latest local notes

Contacted EN support and was told to look for my local notes on a couple of directories - found nothing

Then they told me "We want to let you know that we are looking into this issue, we will contact you back as soon as possible."

After a couple of days i contacted them again to know what was happening and what were they doing to solve the problem

the answer:

" We have been attempting throughout your case to point you toward the locations on your computer where they could be, by rolling back your software to previous versions of the software that should allow them to display on their own, or by giving you the directories directly where they would be, but as you've said you were unable to locate them, there's nothing more we are able to do."

So is this it???

I am a paying customer and because of a faulty update - that EN has to be held responsible - i loose moths of valuable data

and EN just tells me : Sorry there´s nothing we can do!!!!
