(Archived) viewing pictures as files instead of visuals

I used to know how to view pictures as file names instead of space-wasting visuals, but I seem to have forgotten. Specifically, I'm trying to get this done with a bunch of .pngs. The preferences and help feature were more or less useless; can anyone clue me in?

I think images have to be viewed as images, maybe you are confusing them with PDFs that can be viewed as 'attachments'?

It's possible that I was thinking of pdfs. I assumed it had to be possible because it's so unthinkably bizarre that this wouldn't be an option...

If this turns out not to be possible it's make-or-break for me and I'll find a service that can do it, I guess.
