Evernote not responding

I have around 8000 notes. I'm using windows 10. A lot of times when I try to open a note (double click on it in a new window), then the program is not responding anymore and I have to wait 30 seconds. It is really annoying because this keeps happening a lot and it is an issue I had for the last 2 years...

Now evernote web can't even load and doesn't work...

Do I have too many notes or what?

You should try the steps here. You will proably have to resort to the most drastic of removing the local install and renaming the database and starting over with a fresh download from the cloud.

Also, just before you do this, run a chkdsk /f on your PC. It will take time, but will ensure that the issue isn't hardware.
