Can someone explain to me, please, why some people precede their tags with dots or ats? What function does that serve? Why use @Personal when you can use Personal? Please forgive my ignorance, but with my use of EN - only on Windows and Linux PCs - I can't see it.

Easy. They sort higher in the tag pane, so they're always at the top if you don't have too many of them (I only have two).
