  1. Even if your arguments are correct, some users have made different decisions, and they have their reasons for doing so. What needs to be criticized is the mindset that one knows better than the users themselves and must, if necessary, force them "for their own good". Forcing an update that renders the software installation unusable makes no sense either way. But that's exactly what's happening right now.
  2. Restart => Uninstall => Restart => Reinstall does not help. Only "Uninstall => Reinstall an older version" helps. If Evernote decides to no more support Windows 8.1 in new versions, would be OK for me. The main problem here is, that Evernote itself tries actively to offer me an update to the latest version, which then leads to a broken installation even without any hint, that this version is incompatible with my OS. The second problem is, once I followed the suggestion to update to the latest version, I cannot go back to the prevous version, because there is no official download source for this version. Whenever an Evernote update leads to changed OS requirements, it would be good, to offer the prevous version somewhere on official release download sources.
  3. After I updated to the latest version, Evernote does not start at my system anymore. I do not know, what exact version, I was running previously, but I usually update regularly (may be 2-3 months ago). Uninstall, Reinstall, Restart of the system, etc. did not solve the problem. In Windows Task Manager, I can see, the Evernote task appears after start, but then it just disappears without any further message or UI coming up. In Windows event log, I also cannot see any error message. My system is Windows 8.1 (6.3, Build 9600; German). As a workaround, I did went back to version 10.16.7, which I kept luckily as installation source. I was surprised, that no official download ressources of older versions seems to be available :-(
