agree, this is not exactly a replacement when someone uses any extra features that are not available on the web based interface.

For anyone who is coming for search of a Linux client, there is a workaround which to a large extent works as a "standalone" application. Chromium can run any website in it's on window without tabs, bookmark bar, search bar, etc. For this, one needs to run as follows: chromium --app=https://www.evernote.com This can be added to the desktop as a launcher, with it's own icon if that's what someone fancies.
