Had a same issue on a new Macbook and I am also a Premium subscriber. Chatted with tech support but they wanted logs but I couldn't get the logs whilst the green circle was spinning. Also tried multiple reinstalls and reboots. In the end I installed the legacy version of Evertnote and it is ok. Maybe something wrong with latest Mac client.
