If the AI button is fluttering, it looks like a bad install. No further advise possible since you don’t tell which platform and client.

My bad—am on an iPhone Pro (iOS 16.4.1) using Evernote 10.51.

It does, indeed, appear to be a bad install. I recorded a few seconds of the AI flutter (a.k.a. Help, I’m Trapped In A Note and Can’t Get Out) about one minute into another two-plus minute “lock up” on a different note.

And, as others have pointed out, the feature is totally "opt in" - AINC gets applied only to individual notes when user requests it.

Sadly, this isn’t accurate. I have not opted in, yet this morning, was surprised to find AI fluttering away in the toolbar every time I made an edit (then locking up the screen for a minute or longer). See my earlier post for details.

  3. Please give us an opt-out on AI use.

This morning alone, I needed to make quick edits to three notes (and by “quick,” I mean I’m standing at the boarding gate and don’t have time to fiddle around). Instead of typing, tapping the green checkmark to confirm, then moving along, I had to wait…and wait…and wait…and wait…while the AI icon fluttered for a minute or longer after each edit.

    Each. Edit. On. Each. Note.

The app was frozen in place, waiting for AI to do its thing. Couldn’t tap the green checkmark. Couldn’t navigate out of the note. Only option was to quit the app and relaunch, which—of course—meant circling back to each note to confirm the edits were saved.

    This is not workable.

  4. This has been happening to me for a long time now across many EN versions, and with Mavericks and Yosemite.

I think it's a bug, but a minor one since no hard is done if in fact all attachments are close.

    I've just been ignoring it.

That's what makes me nervous. One of these times, there really will be an attachment open, but I won't respond, having treated the constant warnings as "crying wolf."

  5. This happens to me too with Preview on Lion. I have closed the document window in Preview (but not e Preview application), and EN complains about a file attachment maybe still being open. I have to close Preview completely for the warning not to appear. Maybe it's not Word's fault after all...

Ditto here. The headache for me is that sometimes, Preview has another item open (outside of EN) I'm actively working with, so quitting it to make EN happy is a royal pain.

Any idea how to cure this (other than shutting Preview down)?

    EN: Version 6.0.16 (451861 Direct)

    Mac OS: 10.10.4 Yosemite

P.S. to anjoschu: Love the Batman silhouette. ;)

  6. This really is becoming an issue for me and for many others. I have a MacBook Air with a 128GB SSD and I find myself relying on Evernote more and more. [...] If you have a small amount of data in Evernote then selective sync isn't a big deal...but if you're like me it is a HUGE deal and will eventually (likely by the first of 2013 for me personally) force me to delete the Evernote app from my Mac which I hate to do.

    Ditto.

Am on an Air with 250Gb, and still contend with space management problems.

I've been relying more and more on Dropbox for that very reason. Selective sync gives me the ability to store only what's necessary on the Air while keeping all files on the Mini in the office. If I'm missing something on the Air, I just go to Dropbox online and download the specific item. Tight, clean, controllable.

The MBAir only has just-so-much space, then :::poof!::: Dead in the water with a maxed out hard drive.

Please, please, please...selective sync, soon. I dearly love Evernote, but can't afford the risk of having it crash my drive. :)
