I had the same issue and found the solution. Do the following: (1) At the top of the screen, select VIEW, and a dropdown box will appear - then select "Toggle Full Screen" - This will cause the window to decrease in size. (2) You can then resize the window easily to whatever size you want by dragging the edges. (3) Then, if you want Evernote to occupy the complete screen again, repeat step (1) above. It's that simple!
