  1. Fascinating. This seems to have to do with a batch file that I'm using. I keep the Evernote db on a TrueCrypt volume. When I run the batch file, it checks to see if the TC volume is mounted. If it is not, it mounts it, then launches Evernote: start "Launch Evernote" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" If it is already mounted, it kills Evernote, then unmounts: C:\Windows\System32\taskkill.exe /F /im Evernote.exe Is it possible that taskkill is not allowing Evernote to clean up properly? Even so, it's really really weird that it always defaults to that specific notebook. I've even made sure to exit Evernote cleanly (by choosing "Exit" instead of running this script) and when I open Evernote via start, it shows that notebook! If I do all of this outside of the script, opening, quitting, etc. it seems to do what Jeff saw, remembering the last state.
  2. Yeah, that was my thought, too. But no, it doesn't matter what I have selected. It always defaults to that one.
  3. For some reason, when I start Evernote, it always has a specific notebook selected. This notebook is not my default notebook. Sounds like a little thing, but it's kind of driving me nuts. I go to do a search and can't find anything, and then realize it's because it is searching in that notebook and not my default notebook. Hoping there's a fix for this!
  4. @jefito There has been an update since, and now the progress bar goes all the way to the end, then disappears and I get the message that there is an update available. It's like it downloads it, but never actually updates itself. I'm downloading the executable directly (http://cdn1.evernote.com/win4/public/Evernote_4.6.3.8096.exe) right now, and I'm going to see if running that does anything.
  5. I'm getting this as well. I see this in the log: 08:41:21 [3384] AutoUpdate: checking for update at: http://update.evernote.com/public/ENWin4/update.xml08:41:22 [3384] Received status code 200 when accessing URL http://update.evernote.com/public/ENWin4/update.xml08:41:22 [3384] AutoUpdate: located update with revision 268435 (local revision is 267864)08:41:22 [3384] AutoUpdate: selected update with revision 26843508:41:22 [3384] Received status code 200 when accessing URL http://update.evernote.com/public/ENWin4/ReleaseNotes_4.6.2.7927_en-us.html08:41:22 [3384] Evernote is installed PerMachine.08:41:22 [3384] User is an administrator08:42:15 [6580] 0% Connecting to www.evernote.com08:42:15 [6580] 0% * loaded updateCount: 1038708:42:15 [6580] 0% Usage Metrics: sessionCount=008:42:15 [6580] 0% Client is up to date with the server, updateCount=1038708:42:15 [6580] 0% * saved updateCount: 1038708:42:16 [6580] 0% Session terminated normally, elapsed time: 1s08:42:16 [6580] 0% * sent: 274B, received: 149B08:42:16 [6580] 0% * 1s (100%) spent in EDAM RPC
  6. I'm still having this problem on a MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.8.2. No Software Update tab for me, either. Only solution seems to be to quit and restart Evernote.
  7. Another "me too" here. The whole point of a cloud-based system for me is that I don't have to think about anything. I should be able to fire up the client and add a note. I should then be able to launch another client (on the phone, say) and see that note I just added, in the state it was in on the other client. Having to remember to sync is an extra step in the workflow. I'd actually be willing to accept that extra step, except that EN behaves completely differently on multiple clients. I find this really confusing. On the iPhone, it will sync as soon as you finish editing. No need for manual sync. On the Mac client, it lets you sync as frequently as 5 minutes. Less need for manual sync. On the Windows client, it lets you sync as frequently as 15 minutes. More likely a need for manual sync, as a lot could happen to a note in 15 minutes. At the very least, the ability to sync every 5 minutes on the Windows client might help. (Why Mac & Windows have different options here is a mystery to me.) Often I'll have EN open on the Mac, adding some notes, and then realize I need a screenshot from the PC. I then need to tell EN on the Mac to sync, and the go tell Windows to sync, just to make sure all the data is there before I add to it. It would be a lot smoother and more convenient if it did this automatically.
  8. Has anyone been able to get the 5.x version of the web clipper to work with any version of Firefox > 6.0? I tried Aurora (version 7.0a) and Nightly (version 8.0a). Clicking the elephant button does nothing. When I open the options, I get this in the error console: Warning: Use of attributes' specified attribute is deprecated. It always returns true. Source File: chrome://webclipper3-common/content/options.html Line: 0 "Send Clips To" is set to neither Web nor Desktop. If I select one of those and save, nothing is saved, and I get this in the error console: 1314187685863 Sync.Engine.Forms WARN GUID query returned undefined; turn on Trace logging for details. 1314187756078 Sync.Tracker.Forms WARN Attempted to add undefined ID to tracker 1314187756079 Sync.Engine.Forms WARN GUID query returned undefined; turn on Trace logging for details. 1314187756079 Sync.Tracker.Forms WARN Attempted to add undefined ID to tracker 1314187756079 Sync.Engine.Forms WARN GUID query returned undefined; turn on Trace logging for details. 1314187756079 Sync.Tracker.Forms WARN Attempted to add undefined ID to tracker I know it's not supported, but it would be nice to have it working again. The bookmarklet does work, BTW.
