I have this problem too. Why do I have to pay to get my data out? Evernote is effectively holding my data hostage. I was a paying member, but now I just want to export my data out of evernote and I cannot unless I pay?
Wvernote need to fix their unsyc system. there is clearly a problem with it.

I found it helpful when other people stated their use cases and what other application they found helpful. I heard about Joplin here and it does what I need, not as slick at EN. I especially like the End to End Encryption features. I contributed my old Evernote sub money to Joplin.

yeah, I just got the notice. I'm too busy to keep up to date with evernote announcements, sorry. I had to cancel, I only use evernote as a fancy filing cabinet. and 130$ a year is too much for what I using it for.

You can move it to another location through settings, unless you have installed from the store. Then the option will not be usable.
In this case you need to erase the store install, and get a fresh direct install from the website. This versions allows to pick a folder. But not to a Temp(orary) folder. Temp is under system control, and own data should not be stored there. Just create a folder in a place where you would like it to reside, and make an exception for OneDrive for not syncing this folder.
One Drive will not let me "unselect" the Evernote folder in my documents folder.

Thanks,
I Hope someone from evernote team will see this. I don't understand why they don't just use the temp data folder. We can already specify a location for evernote data, why not just use only that folder?

I really don't want evernote to use this folder, because my Documents folder is sync'd to one drive and I don't want evernote data on onedrive. Is there a way to tell evernote to not use this folder? Onedrive will follow the symlink which defeats the purpose.

It is sad that evernote food is now discontinued. there is literally no other app out there that does what evernote food does.
I would seriously pay extra to maintain evernote food.

We suggest giving Web Clipper a try to collect recipes and cooking inspirations. Evernote is a great place to capture your favorite meal experiences. Also, check out our App Center Food Collection which also features Evernote-integrated food-centric apps that you might like.
Your recipe clippings should be editable in Evernote, but the meal and restaurant notes are locked. We are taking note of your feedback and will definitely take it into consideration moving forward.
You totally missed the point of all the feedback in this thread. No one here is upset at the loss of recipes, everyone like the current evernote food's ability to easily record meal and restaurants!
The best feature of evernote food is the ability to automatically extract information from the photo's EXIF data to automatically set dates, location, and what meal of the day it might be, and the ability to sort meals based on proximity.

If you are retiring the app, can you open source it? At least someone then could keep it up to date with ios/android OS's and the latest evernote api's.

So sad to see this feature discontinued. I really like the note taking template for evernote food. Is there a way to duplicate that kind of template so I can continue to save food notes? Does evernote even have note taking templates?
Sorry, can you also point me to a simple app that just does food logging? (pictures, restaurant(w/ location), comments/captions, tags) and the ability to set the "note created date" to the timestamp from the pictures EXIF data, and locate restaruants from the same EXIF data.

I found a solution.
login to evernote web, click on the gear icon next to your username. disconnect all devices from there. including evernote web.
then goto your desktop application and log in. that worked for me.
