I have just given up on the new Evernote and gone back to the legacy version. Apart from being very slow, especially when adding tags, there were multiple problems:
items from import folder were always imported twice and moving to trash was slow
edits to the title were often partially lost
clipped items didn't appear in desktop version for hours - sometimes they had to be edited in the web version before they would sync with desktop
check lists converted to tasks when adding a new item. I couldn't work out how to start a new check list
forced use of sans serif font in new notes and limited choices of fonts
working with several selected notes was impossibly slow
legacy formatting problems remained, such as reducing text size didn't reduce leading
The iOS app froze after the lock screen. I have reinstalled this and so far it has been ok, but there are times when creating a new note is just too time consuming. This is forcing me to use other note taking apps, and I'm seriously considering evaluating alternatives to Evernote. Recent steep price increases have been accompanied by a massive loss of productivity
