  1. Does anybody like the weird yellow-to-purple gradient in the background? It makes me note list looks like one of those old beige monitors that has yellowed over the years. Doesn't look good IMO.

The "periwinkle" (share button color) also seems out of place to me. Green made sense before for internal links. They still are green, but not when you hover on the link, the tooltip popup link is the new periwinkle color. Just seems inconsistent.

I also don't like that they changed the default font as I've been having to resize tables and other spacing in notes because the new font doesn't display the same way. On this topic, why not add a global setting for this? I mean they included a "Source Sans Pro - Old default font", but how do I reapply that to all my notes? I can't go through 2000 notes.

Further, I'm not sure if it's the new theme or the recent update that added the ability to align inline images, but when inline images are left aligned, they no longer align with the rest of the content in the note, they're aligned further to the left, it just looks weird and triggers my OCD.

It's also extremely awkward resizing images now because the bounding box doesn't surround the bounds of the image itself, but includes white space to the edge of the note, so you go way over to the side of the note to resize the image. Just awkward.

I think this theme is worse than the previous one. I wish they'd spend their time on including new features, enhancing existing features, and fixing bugs instead of playing around with the theme and breaking the way my notes look because they keep changing default fonts and spacing in the application.

I'm not too fond of the use of white spaces around the UI. I specifically Hate the unused space at the top of notes. its too much.

I just got the new UI pushed to me and came here to mention the same thing. It's especially bad if you open a note in a new window.

1/5 or more of the note is just taken up needlessly. By the time my actual note content starts, it's about 1/4+ of the way down the screen.

In general, I'm a little blasé about this UI refresh. In general I like UI refreshes, I believe it's good for apps and websites to get a "fresh coat of paint" periodically, and so far I think the updates are OK. I would usually provide detailed feedback but I'm not motivated to invest the time when there are so many other areas of concern with the app, continued data loss concerns, an Android app which needs a huge amount of love, and so on.

My first thought when I saw that the UI was being reworked was, "This is where resources are being focused?". Not that I'm against it, but it seems to me this should be a low priority. I can think of dozens of things that would go into making the application better before spending time on a new UI. It's not like the current UI is extremely outdated. It would've been fine for a few years at least IMO. I have submitted defects since June of last year that still aren't fixed. I would like to see those fixed before a new UI.

Also, it's not a UI update as much of a theme change. I haven't used it, but from the screenshots, it just looks like tweaks the theme to me.

As far as feature enhancements, why not improve the code blocks that provide no syntax highlighting and you can't modify the font? Why not enhance the backlinks to take you directly to the spot in the note where the note is linked? These are just a couple of things off the top of my head. Seems silly that modifying the colors of the application was more important.

I wonder if "we can't reproduce the problem", which is obviously false, really means "we can reproduce it but we don't consider it a problem because that's how it works now."

Yeah, maybe, if they don't want to support custom header styles then they should just remove the option that allows us to set them though.

I opened another ticket, but may give up and just start switching all my notes back to the default header styles if my new ticket gets closed too. It just stinks because I have almost 2,000 notes and that could take a while to swap everything back, plus I don't like the default styling for headers, they blend too much together for my eyes.

I've sent videos and links to the forums of other people having the issue. They still say they  cannot reproduce it. I've now given up.

I'm trying the same one more time. I recorded the exact steps showing the issue occurring in both the Windows client and the web. We'll see if anything comes of it. By the sounds of it, nothing will, but I'll hold out hope for one more ticket.

Keep us posted but I expect you will just be told they can't reproduce the issue.

You were right. Below is their response.

Is there anybody who isn't able to reproduce this issue? Simply setting the header styles and then duplicating a note will cause the new note to lose its header styling. For me this happens on every device and every environment. It seems amazing that they can't reproduce it.

I guess I'll try opening another ticket with more proof and a video of it happening on every environment.

When posting I try to stay focused on the issue and not rant too much about the software itself, but for me this issue is causing a huge waste of time fixing my notes nonstop, which is extra infuriating when my subscription is about to come due with like a 140% price increase. /mini-rant

  6. Wish I had an update, but still waiting to hear back from them myself. They only replied with a canned response about updating the application, restarting my device, etc., and emailing logs. I replied reiterating that the issue still happens despite all of these troubleshooting steps, but did provide my logs. Still waiting.

Super annoying issue, I am constantly clicking to and from notes to double-check that the headers don't get messed up because it happens all the time.

Can no longer reliably search after filtering

I'm experiencing an issue like this. Now that my tag suggestions haven't been showing, I have been using the "Add filters" button to apply my tags. If I first add a tag via "Add filters" and then try to search for a phrase I know to be within one of the filtered notes, nothing changes and it doesn't search for the term. If I try hitting enter again to search for the term a second time, it removes my filters and searches for the term on its own instead of within my filtered notes.

To find the result I'm looking for I have to search for the term first and then apply filters. I'm not sure if this has always worked this way because I never used the "Add filters" button to build my filters. After all, search suggestions were much quicker, but it's a bad experience either way.

  8. My original ticket was closed because they could not reproduce it and I haven't had the time to follow up with this issue again, but it's been happening daily for me. I've opened another ticket. This is by far my most annoying bug at the moment. Every time I edit a note, I have to click away, and then click back to it to see if my styles get removed. A not-insignificant part of my life is fixing these headers these days. Hopefully, they can find a fix for this.

  9. I too am having this issue, among many other issues. Version 10.59.5 has been extremely buggy for me. I'll select the tag, it briefly refreshes, but still just shows me all of my notes. The only way I can consistently get it to start working again is by killing the Evernote process and restarting it. This will fix it temporarily until it triggers again in a few minutes.

  10. Apologies if this has been reported. I did a search but didn't find anything.

I use custom styles for my three header styles (Large, Medium, Small) and recently when I open some notes I find my header styles have been removed from the note entirely and they're set back to the default header styles. This forces me to style some text and re-set my larger, medium, and small headers again.

This only started happening recently and it doesn't happen all of the time. Maybe it's related to the conversion of the notes to the real-time note format? It feels like it started roughly around the same time, but I'm not sure of that as I haven't discovered reliable reproducible steps.

  11. Upvote from me. This is probably the highest ranked feature that I would like to see implemented at the moment.

I like that Evernote has been implementing new features again, but none of the new ones so far have excited me. This one would and would probably be enough to get me to finally upgrade from the legacy plus plan that I'm currently on.

  12. I've discovered that if you copy and paste blank lines into a code block, then click away from the note to a different note and then go back to the note, the blank lines will get removed.

Consider the attached screenshot. The top code block I copied from SQL Server Management Studio and pasted into the code block (I also tested copying from notepad to see if this made any difference and it didn't). In the bottom code block, I pasted the same text except I manually removed the blank line and added it back in. I then clicked away from the note to a different note, went back to this note and the top code block where I copy/pasted with the blank line had its blank line removed.

    I am on version 10.4.4 Build 2096

  13. I'm running 10.1.17. For all my notes I used a template and just today have ran into this issue. If I create a new note, I should see a button to select a template in the body of the note. This button is not longer there. Further, If I go to Note > Save as Template, this option is grayed out and I can't select it.

I've completely killed the evernote process and restarted it. It still is not showing for me.

How can I disable Check-spelling-as-you-type in the new app for MacOS. The new version changes a lot from old version. I'm frustrating with it now.

From what I can tell they don't allow you to disable spell check in the new version.

I've been asking to disable spell check since the preview, then the beta, and now the GA version. I'm a little surprised they released the new version publicly without adding the ability for this. It seems like a standard option that any writing tool should have.
