This could be partially solved by allowing the task view to include an option to group by the tasks identified in the note that includes the task.  It would also be helped if the flag wasn't binary (on or off). If you could set multiple flag colors and name them, you could then also group by flag (call, meet, go, read, etc.)

    Great idea!

Also, being able to save searches done in the task tab would be great.

e.g. filtering in the task tab all the notes with a yellow flag and save the search as "Calls". So that you have the list of all the calls you have to make only by clicking the saved search (TSW applied to tasks)

  2. I've downloaded the latest version of Evernote (10.18.3 version) and since then, everything I do in evernote takes an insane amount of time, from several seconds to minutes to just retrieve a note. Furthermore, I've clicked on saved searches that lead to no note whatsoever, when I clearly have notes corresponding to that specific search and this happened a few times only in the past 30 min.

Not all notes under the tag filter are displaying. Literary for every tag (with 10 + notes inside). I am getting only a few notes as a result. e.g. - Tag has 75 notes - the app is showing me 5. When checking on the PC it works normally. Funny thing is that in the tree list it is showing correct number of notes inside but when selecting the tag I see only fraction of them.

    Same problem here

I follow GTD with Evernote. The people at Tonic had a great tutorial years ago and called it the secret weapon (for Getting Things Done). Anyways... sorting by tags is crucial. It's how I can sort all of my notes @Work and 1-Now as when it's due. Then the 2-Next tagged tasks would follow, with 3-Soon, you get the idea. I need sorting by tags. I pay for Evernote and I feel like a feature I was paying for has been removed without warning.

I need to know when this feature will be restored, or if it's not in your product roadmap to restore it so I can evaluate other note/task software.

+1 here as well. I've been using TSW for GTD for the past years and this missinf feature is very annoying!

I can confirm that tag search is still broken for Android client.

Usually tag search works correctly for a period after the app is updated, clear all data (complete reset of app state) or post full text search.

It is as if search only works against a temporary cache built up and cleared out periodically.

Just got auto-updated to 10.11 through Google Play and now tag search works correctly.

However I expect it to be broken again later once the temp cache expires.

Can anyone else share experience doing tag search on Android?

I have exactly the same problem

  6. Yes please, implement the "sort-by tag" view as it was in the previous version of evenote for desktop! I find this view very handy too. By this view I mean having a set of notes screened in evernote and see them in an order based on the alphabetical order of the tags given to those notes (see photo attached). Having this sort-by tag option allows me to see all the actions (each note in EN = action) that I have to do in a specific context (such as Home, at work, etc.) in order of importance.

EN can't sort a subset of a list unless you make that subset the list, and then it's not a subset.  Catch-22ish..

No controlled secondary sort in EN.  Funny, I just selected a tag ($tatement)  which is typically paired with others, sorted by tag, and the "secondary" sort appears to be by created date, newest first when the tags are the same.  Not the same you are seeing.   FWIW.

I see, that's weird, maybe it hints that this secondary sorting can be changed in some way?

I don't know, anyway I'll cope with it. However, albeit great, EN sometimes makes me feel like I don't have freedom to choose over some features (like this one about "secondary" sorting) and have to cope with it. I don't know if there's a reason for this limitation, if not I think there's room for improvement in this direction.

    Thanks a lot

Search by the specific set of notes you want, save the search with view if it is frequent.  In your example it looks like an All search for tag:1* tag:2* tag:3* tag:prepare* would return the set of notes.

Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. applying your suggestion works if I want to see only the notes with all those tags. Instead I'd like to see all the tags I showed you in the photo, and I'd like to see only that specific subset of notes in alpha order by title.

It seems like evenote, when a primary "sort by" option has been selected (e.g. by tag), sorts the notes by update (the ones updated more recently go to the bottom). Isn't it possible to change this second? Specifically giving the order to sort firstly by tag and then, if one or more notes have the same tag(s), sort them by title?

Do your tag search and set the sort.  Then click the Always use option on the sort options dropdown.  You can do the same thing for saved searches and notebooks.

    Hi CalS

    thank you for replying.

I think my question wasn't phrased very clearly.

I have several tags for each note, and when I search for a specific tag I like to have the sorting order by the tag. However, when two or more notes have the same tags (like the ones in the brackets in the photo attached) I want to have them sorted by the title, but only if they have the same amount of tags. All of the other notes are fine sorted just by the tags order.

Instead, if I got your suggestion straight, if I change this search by alpha order, it will change the order of all of the tags by their names, whereas I just want a specific set of notes to be sorted by alpha order.

    Thanks a lot

If you filter on that tag, you can then sort by alpha order, and then save the search. When you use that saved search, the tag filter and the order should be preserved.
