About canyon

  1. While this doesn't strictly have to do with the android client, it is an android tip that I hope others will benefit from. Warning: this tip requires Android 2.2 (Froyo) and uses the new "Voice Actions" feature included with the updated search application. Find out more: http://www.google.com/mobile/voice-actions/ Warning 2: This tip only works when you have an internet connection. This is a limitation of the Android text to speech function. I have started using the Voice Actions feature to capture notes into evernote. This requires some setup but works great once you have configured everything. Preparations: Create a Contacts entry named "Evernote" and fill in it's email address field with your Evernote incoming email address. According to this article: "The address is located under Account Info in the desktop versions of Evernote, under Settings in Evernote Web, and in the Sync tab of Evernote for iPhone." Use: Now you can activate the Voice Search by clicking the Voice Search application icon, or by long pressing the search button. Then you can say Email to Evernote This is a test note. The Voice Search should interpret this as a Voice Action and create an Email, addressed to your Evernote email, with the body of "This is a test note". You can then hit send and it will email that to your evernote account. It should be in your default notebook with a title of "Mailed in note". I have found this amazingly useful to quickly capture something without taking the time to type it out. I have even used it from the Car Home application while driving. I hope everyone finds this as useful as I have.
  2. You can place a shortcut to that notebook on your android home screen. This will then launch the app directly into the notebook. Easiest procedure to create a shortcut is: 1: open evernote client and access notebook you want to create the shortcut for. 2: click the menu button 3: select "Create Shortcut" 4: edit title to what you want icon to be named 5: hit save Then you should be able to return to your home screen and see an elephant icon with the name you assigned in step 4.
  3. Congratulations! I know that this will help propel Evernote to be the premiere notebook application for android that it should be. I have already suggested the beta to several of my android friends, and now they can just get it in the market. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see how this develops in the future! Canyon R
  4. You can copy and paste information when you are in the "edit" mode. Select "edit note" from the menu. Then long click on the body of the note and you will get a menu with the "select text" option. You can then copy the information and paste it into any other app. GMail works much the same for copy/paste.
  5. Please let me tell you that I LOVE the new widget in beta 5! It's exactly what I was hoping for and it looks great too. Thanks for all the hard work on this app. Canyon
  6. I see that this was put into Beta 5 and WOW! It works exactly as I would have hoped and best of all it handles notes, searches, and notebooks. Thank you so much for adding this feature!
  7. You can. On the notebook screen, for example, you can click where it says "Notes in " and it will give you the option to set your sort order.
  8. Thanks! It might help if you put the build number in the post when you update it. That way we have a way to check if it's the new version. Canyon
  9. I agree that the search function on the widget could be a button not a "text field". I also agree that having a link to the start page would save me another space on my home screen.
  10. Mine also says 2.0b2 but the build number changed to 106218.
  11. If you are using Windows, the Evernote 4 beta is awesome. viewtopic.php?f=56&t=19146
  12. Bottom line up front (BLUF): It would be great to have a "Voice note" button that integrates with the Car Home application. Google recently released an updated Car Home application for users to have a simple interface when driving. I mainly use it for Google Listen and direct dialing. Yesterday I needed to record a note while driving and realized that evernote would be great as a car app. The problem is that all I can add to the Car Home application is the main Icon. So recording a Voice Note is a several step process: 1. launch evernote 2. click new note 3. touch (very small) mic icon 4. click "save" when done recording What I would like is a button to add to the Car Home app that worked like the Voice Note button on the widget. Then I could push one button, record the note, and then hit save. That would be much easier, and safer. I know one of the featues in the updated Car Home is the ability for apps to register themselves as "Car Applications". I'm assuming that would allow you to know that Evernote is being launched from Car Home and function accordingly. Here is the blog post about the updated Car Home app. http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/1 ... sonal.html And here are the dev docs about integrating into the Car Home application. http://developer.android.com/reference/ ... nager.html Thanks! 13. Dave, Bottom line up front (BLUF): I just bought a subscription because of this feature. I have been waiting, not always patiently, for this feature for almost Two Years now. I have been a supporter and proponent of Evernote since the early betas of 3.0 for windows. I have recommended Evernote to all of my friends and coworkers who HAVE IPHONES. I have complained to all of my Android compatriots about the lack of a good evernote client. I had stopped using Evernote entirely! I switched to Simplenote, which has several good android clients. All this changed with the new beta client. I have now moved all my information to Evernote and am in progress of loading 18 months worth of archive data. Most importantly, I paid for my subscription this morning. I don't need more upload bandwidth, I don't need searchable PDFs, and I don't need priority support. What I do need is offline access. This is what I was waiting for and I'm very willing to pay for it. Thank you for all your hard work on this product, I hope that you are able to get through the beta quickly so the rest of the android users can enjoy this great client. P.S. On the topic of features that should be in the "Free" version, I think that SSL should be standard for everyone. I think addressing security and privacy concerns are a base level feature. Conversely, and unfortunately, I doubt that many people upgrade for this feature alone.
  14. I'm using the windows 4 preview and it's working great. viewtopic.php?f=56&t=19146
