  1. I didn't provide any details, as it was more of a general whinge about Evernote, on the back of a history of frustrations with what was once a fantastic app and is now a bloated mess which still doesn't get basic stuff right. My frustration is leaking through.

A lot of people have had problems with their updates, I really don't think it's anything on my end.. I don't have this issue with other software updates and there's nothing unusal about my set up (eg a security suite) that should stop what should be a simple process. I've done various uninstall/full reinstalls along the way.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

But just FYI,  Windows 10 Pro, using the app (the web interface works fine). System is up-to-date, no unusual software suites etc.

  2. Oh look, another update to Evernote.

    Run the update.

I wonder what will go wrong this time?

    Open Evernote.

Well.. try to open it. I get a faceful of this.

This has happened before, and I think necessitated another go at reinstalled Evernote.

I'd really rather not this happen every time an upate comes out!

I get a note filled with this. Can't do anything else. image.thumb.png.7408f33ab861c7beb9cdad0524226ab5.png

    Addendum:

I am once again disappointed in newer updated versions.  This is precisely why I stuck with the now ancient version 6.25.1.9091 for so long.  It didn't have some of the flashy new (and arguably nice) features like multi-color highlighting, but it was solid and predictable, especially when it came to web clips.

Evernote developers, please attend to this problem.  I've been using (and paying for) this platform for years.  I shouldn't need to stay with an outdated and unsupported version to retain usability.

Totally agree! The basic wordprocessing functionality of Evernote is about 2 decades behind every other program.

  4. Same. I'm just working out which program to move to. I tend to be loyal to apps like this (remember Infoselect?), but this kind of thing shows that the company doesn't really care about what's actually going on with the program, and it just gets more and more bloated and slower. And there's still basic things missing (or have been removed - don't get me started about moving the 'store' folder, which has only just been reinstated), like still sorting options.

Wow - there's a blast from the past!

I think Info select is the program that started me on this software adventure decades ago. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning :)

I used to love how it showed you graphically how many matches your search had, with the little red squares getting fewer and fewer as you drilled down more and more with the search terms.

And also proper folder structure - I know there's other ways to do things (tags etc), but I do like to have actual folders to drag the notes into.
