  1. Ah, that worked, thanks. Or at least, it made the right part of the window show my stacks and from that part of the window I could drag the notebook to the proper stack. I have attached an image showing what I get when Ctrl clicking the notebook.
  2. I've got several stacks with notebooks in them, but today I can no longer seem to create a new notebook within an existing stack nor drag a new notebook into the stack. Clicking on the notebook icon (as suggested above) does nothing. CMD clicking on the icon gives me the option of Share, Publish or Delete Notebook, but I do not see the other options shown in the image above. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I am using the latest version of Evernote available to my Mac, v. 7.8. Martin
  3. Thanks Gazumped, pasting first into Word does seem to help. Of course, I'd prefer to not have to take that step, but it does seem to be a successful workaround. Martin
  4. Omnizen I'm sorry, I wrote 'simplified article' when I should have written 'simple article.' I've done that and attempted to clean up, but still there are some formatting elements that often simply won't go away. I understand no application is perfect; I'm simply trying to find a way to clean up. Martin
  5. I often paste things from other documents or from websites. Often the formatting changes when it lands in Evernote. I get that. But I don't seem to be able to clean it up. For example, I used web clipper to copy a recipe as a simplified article. When I open it in Evernote, the leading above the first line of text (below the title) is equivalent to about five line returns. A smaller gap appears later. In the first case, I can find no way to eliminate this gap. Neither typing delete (forward or backward), Simplify Formatting nor Make Plain Text resolve the issue. In the latter case, I can hit delete, which brings the text up to the next line and then hit return and the space jumps down one row, but does not disappear. I think what I would like is something more complete than Simplify Formatting. I'd hate to lose line returns, but something that deletes all other formatting would be great. Am I missing something? Martin
  6. OK, here's another very specific example. A new Evernote document typically has a small space—approximately a line return—between the title of the document and the first line of the body of the document—see first image. Sometimes though, as in the second image, a larger space appears. There is no line return above my first line of text. In this case, if I select from the top of the body of the text and down several lines and choose Simplify Formatting, the text jumps from 14pt to 28pt. Reducing it back down to 14pt does not eliminate the problem. It looks to me like Evernote is retaining the 28pt line spacing from whatever website I copied the information from even after I've scaled down the text. Is there a way to address this? Martin
  7. Well, in the specific example I gave—the contents list with links from a YouTube page—Cmd+Shift+V pastes the content without any formatting: no links and no line returns. I'm not complaining here, if Evernote can't do it, it can't do it. I was just trying to figure out if it was something I was simply not getting. Martin
  8. I often use Evernote to keep track of things I read on websites. Often though, copying and pasting from a site creates formatting issues that won't go away by selecting Simplify Formatting from the Format menu. For example, I pasted the Contents from a YouTube page (first image) into my document and found that every thing was double or triple spaced. There are no detectable line returns to remove and when I choose Simplify Formatting (second image), the text simply gets larger. If I try to then reduce the font size, I end up back where I started with the big gaps. I don't want to convert to plain text because that will happen across the entire document and I lose all the formatting I've done and links I've inserted elsewhere as well as the links that came with this paste. This and similar formatting issues happen all the time for me in Evernote. Am I missing something? Martin Mac OS 10.11.6, Evernote Version 6.13.3 (455969 Direct)
  9. It looks as if just emptying her trash took care of the issue.
  10. Thanks Sayre, I'll have her check. I don't use gmail either. It's possible she just hasn't dumped her trash and restarted her computer and gmail is still seeing something in her trashcan.
  11. Are you saying there might be an Evernote setting within Gmail settings?
  12. I tried to sell my wife on Evernote. I can't live without it, she quickly decided she could and deleted the app from her Mac. But she keeps getting these 'Remember' windows popping up over anything that might be something she might want to remember in Gmail. The Evernote elephant logo appears next to 'Remember' so it is obviously from Evernote. How does she stop this? Martin
  13. Ah, clearly I wasn't patient enough. I've just tried it again and it seems it depends upon where on the note I click. Some areas make the highlighting go away for only a second and some make them go away completely. Thanks, Martin
  14. I use the Search window a lot. One thing I've never liked about it though is once I've found the note I was looking for, the search parameters stay highlighted throughout the note (see attached image). If I clear the Search window to eliminate this distraction, Evernote reverts back to whatever window I had open prior to my search. Feature Request: Clearing the Search window leaves current note displayed. Thanks, Martin Evernote V 6.4
  15. Thanks JM, That was both helpful and discouraging. And, in this case, I found even a manual resync did not bring the notes to my other devices. Ah well. Martin
  16. I have evernote synced on a MacPro, a MacBook Pro, an old Android I have yet to recycle, a new Android and a tablet. I have one new note on the MacPro that won't sync to the other devices. I just created a new test note on the MacPro and it synced, but the other note will not. I'm sure I'll need to offer some specifics, but not sure what they are. Here are some. Both computers are running Evernote v. 6.3 Desktop is running OS 10.10.5 and Laptop is running 10.9.5 I just copied the content of the note into a new note and gave it the same name 'v2'. That synced. But I'd still like to know how to prevent this. I don't check all my devices for syncing before walking away from the one I wrote on. Not sure what other information to offer. Martin
  17. I'm definitely not knowingly running that sort of app and this is a pretty new MacBook without much loaded on it. Your second suggestion has some potential, but it still means I would have had to unintentionally delete them from another device. Possible, but I'm still thinking ghosts. Martin
  18. I just launched Evernote on my MacBook, opened my Inbox notebook (my default notebook for web clippings and the like), turned away to do something else, heard my Mac's alert sound go off twice and when I turned back, two of the notes in my inbox notebook were gone! Neither I nor anyone else (corporal at least; I can't rule out ghosts or poltergeists) touched my keyboard. And Undo is grayed out. I found them both in my Trash notebook, but I don't always have the alert audio on so I'd rather this didn't happen again. Anyone have any experience with this?
