New slash command feature doesn't seem to work (MacOS desktop)

I just upgraded my desktop app on MacOS to 10.79.3 and saw the release notes said there was a new feature to use a slash as command to insert things like tables. I tried it and when I type a slash nothing happens. I restarted the app and it still doesn't do anything.
