For my most important everyday carry mobile phone I (painfully) decided to roll back to EN 8.13.3 for good - support had to grant access to my IP for the login to allow - and now I have at least one Android with an EN 8.13.3 running fast like hell again, background synchronized offline notebooks, pretty instant note display and capture...it is all there again. Love it so much! 🙂

I've tried many times to roll back to EN version 8.13.3 but have never been able to log in. I assumed it was left over code from V10 that was preventing it. I never assumed that Evernote would be blocking my IP address.  How did you go about doing this?

Legacy & Web both work & sync nicely but now both PC V10 & Android V10 refuse to sync - even with each other

I'm curious: how was the import to Evernote? did it go automatically by pressing some import button or did you have a lot of manual work to do?

if tags are the only big issue, they could be replaced: just write all the tags into the note titles, each preceded by some rare Unicode character that you never use otherwise in your notes. the only downside that comes to my mind is that renaming tags would not go as smooth as in Evernote.

I did end up with a load of duplicate notes - which I'm still deleting 8 years later...

I've got about 47K notes so editing the note titles is not an option for me...

I want to see the face of Tim Cook using his own *****. take away from him his iPhone and give him an Android so he learns.

maybe, he has invested in a) OneNote or b) Notion and happily looks the shares to go up. ?

I just evaluated Notion : it does not have offline editing, except for the last note you opened when still online. that kills it for me.

is there any problem with OneNote? on paper, they have it all. all the important features. does anyone have had negative experiences recently that deterred him or her from onenote?

I started out with OneNote and I would go back to it in a heartbeat if they had a decent tagging system. That is the only thing that is a deal breaker for me...

  4. After suffering the same problems as noted by many others, I believe the biggest problem with V10 is the fact that there is no background sync.

Versions prior to V10 used to sync in the background (if set to do so) even when closed so when you opened the app everything that had been updated on other devices was there.  V10 app seems to have nothing updated since it was last opened so it takes many minutes just to catch up. I have a poor internet in my area so the lag is far longer than others have reported. If OneNote had a decent tagging system I would have abandoned Evernote ages ago...

  5. I was beginning to think it was just me until I saw this post.  Downloaded it yesterday with eager anticipation but found my daily journal note in a mixture of various fonts with no way to set them back to what they were. None of my note links worked and lots of other menu functions were missing. No options - at least I couldn't find them.
Above all, it was so slooooow...!!!

Fortunately, I manage to find and re-install v6.25 back with great relief when everything worked again - after I reset the fonts in the notes I edited.

I did however notice v6.25 was running slightly slower than usual which concerned me until I realised v10 was still installed. Uninstalled that and all is well again!!!

I'm sticking with what works and I'm not going near a new version any time soon....

There is no secret shortcut to do this. It's an operation that makes no sense, UI-wise: break a line and put the text following the cursor above the preceding text? Nope. Instead, it sounds like a bug to me.

Yeah, I think you may be right

You can do this with lines in a bulleted or numbered list, in the current Windows client (which you're using). Hover over the bullet or number at the left, and you'll see the cursor turn into a hand. That means that you can drag it up and down the list, or into another list. Appears to only work with individual list items, but I haven't used this much, so there may be ways to make it work with multiple list items that I'm not aware of.

I forgot about that. It's a shame it doesn't work with check boxes as well. Although it does work with bulleted check boxes. I'll have to try that...

    Thanks!

  7. Hi All

For many years I've wished for a Onenote feature to appear in Evernote - the ability to just grab a line and move it up or down in a list.

Today, I just did it by accident!!

I had a list and just added some text at the beginning of one of the lines. I pressed return and the whole line moved down one line with the one that was below going above it.

I pressed Ctrl Z and Ctrl Y to make sure I wasn't seeing things then tried other key combos to try to figure out what I just did but just cannot re-create the action.

Does anyone have any idea what I may have done?

My cursor was midway along the line at the time and I'm using Windows desktop version 6.19.2.8555 if that's any help....

With well over a thousand notes, on many topics, it's really hard to keep control...

I would not want to wait for searches to complete every time I open a note...

I have over 32 thousand notes and my searches are still almost instant. Remember, I only wanted the link on a page - not the results...

Currently, there is no "link" to a saved search.
An option I use is to put the search terms as text into the note, for copy/paste into the search box
    For example:   tag:aaaaa intitle:"bbbbbb" cccc

I know it isn't available at the moment which is why I asked if there was any chance of it being implemented. I am already using the method you suggest for my journal entries but it's a pain...

You can roll your own if it is that important to you.  I have a note which contains a table of searches I don't use that often, two columns, description and actual search terms.  It is in my shortcuts bar.  Using PhraseExpress I created a hotkey (hover over the search terms and Alt+RightMouseClick) which invokes a search for whatever the search text is.  FWIW.

I will look into Phrase Express - thank you...

  10. Is there any chance that one day we may be able to put a saved search link actually into a note?  I know note links are very useful but I find (in my case) they tend to become redundant, especially when notes are merged - where the original notes are deleted and a new note created.  It would be awesome to be able to have a page of specific links that are dynamically updated when you use them.

I know there is the Saved Search area in the left panel and that you can save them in the Shortcuts area but - to be honest - in my case, they just end up in a mess as my needs change and I lose track of which ones search for what.  Having Saved Searches in the actual notes would enable users to create a complete menu (and sub-menu ) system for their data which would always be current and up to date.

Just a personal observation which I'm sure would be useful to some others...
