  1. I wanted this too until I really thought it through and read the other comments. As soon as you put the text in there, it's searchable.

For the use case of not wanting someone that is using the PC to be able to click around in EN and see certain content, the solution is to close/log out of EN before turning over control and to lock it or log out when away.

For the person that wants to avoid accidental screen sharing of personal content while keeping EN open for work content, that's a little trickier. What you could do is create a second account and share only the work notebooks with that account. Then log out of your "main" account and into your second account before doing work. I have a couple of notebooks shared with a family member and they don't see the rest of my stuff nor do they require a subscription and this works well.

I think they're prioritising "make it faster and more reliable" over "make it look nice".

This is about functionality, not looking pretty. They spent a bunch of time on making it look modern which IMO was not necessary. But they spent no time on making the thumbnails function the way that any normal person would think they should if you asked them.

I get that a lot of people probably use list view so they don't care, so maybe this isn't a popular request. But for those that want it, it's a big deal. There is no software that comes close to EN for what I need it for, so I'm likely not going anywhere, but it is one of the few things about EN that grinds my gears.

The fact that the app doesn't do what you'd like it to is not thing that the company needs to 'fix' - you can request the feature be added,  and they may - or may not do so,  depending on how expensive and / or difficult it would be to change the system.

I would believe it wasn't a bug and was just a poorly designed function if it at least behaved consistently (always the largest image) but it does not. It shows different images on web vs. desktop and randomly replaces the thumbnail when you paste new ones in. I cannot believe someone made an intentional design decision to have it display a random thumbnail. I'm using a different app for this specific purpose until this is fixed.

I love EN for everything else, but this and lack of backup options are the two things I would change if I had a magic wand.

  4. I'm on EN v10.14 on Windows 10. When I double-click a PDF in a note, it asks me what application I want to use to open it. When I double-click a PDF from my desktop, it opens as expected in Acrobat.

Also, when I right click a PDF that is stored in a note as an attachment, sometimes it drops of the .pdf extension on the file.

In both cases I can still open it with EN's edit & annotate tool.
