New notes not in default notebook

Since the latest update (6.0.6.1769), if I happened to be in a notebook that is not the default, and create a new note, the new note is saved in the notebook I was in instead of the default notebook. Before, all new notes were saved in the default notebook. My note and task management process depends on everything going to one inbox and this is tripping me up - quite frustrating.

Anybody know of a way to get the old default notebook behavior back?
