Changing font face or size of text in list item affects whole item, not just selected text

I haven't been using the Evernote Windows desktop app (v. 5.9.9.9915 GA) for the past several weeks, so I don't know how long it has been an issue (or if it's just a 'feature' that I never encountered before), but I just noticed it today.

Whenever I attempt to change the font face or size of a piece of text in a list item, the entire item changes instead of just my highlighted selection. This issue is not present in standard paragraph text, or checkbox items. My attached screen capture illustrates the issue well.

I'm not sure what to do about this; is there a setting for such a thing that I may have inadvertently tripped at some point? Is anyone else having this issue?
