I can't take the nag anymore...going to one note. Repetitive modal dialogues are unforgiveable

It feels like every time I log in, I get a popup for the paid or to confirm my email. Today alone, I've had to confirm my email 3x.
This is incredibly disruptive to line of thought. I just want to take a text note, not argue with the system before I can do so.
Even sidebar ads are better than these annoying modal popups.
99% of the time a modal dialogue is not justified from a design perspective as it takes control away from the user.
A sidebar notification is fine, but modal = goodbye and good riddance.
