Audio clips stop before end

I just had an issue I thought I'd bring up before it becomes a bigger issue for me. I was using Evernote to play clips, and after starting the clip it first played for a fraction of a second, then stopped. Then I played it again, it played for about half the clip, and stopped, without any input from me. I need these clips to play reliably and the last couple days it doesn't seem like that's happening. Any suggestions? I'm unfortunately stuck using Win XP (work computer, and it can't upgrade yet) and using Evernote 5.8.1.6061
