Writing experience rather hugely disappointing

Just bought Penultimate and downloaded the app on my ipad and stated to write........ but 1 out of 3 words does not show up on the screen.. so i wrote slower.... but it did not really help.... Am i supposed to teach the apps about my writing style?

Why there is no 'how to get started' ? or did I miss it?
