Home Screen Customization Suggestion - Selecting Number of Columns

I would like to suggest the following improvement for the home screen customization - rather than locking us into "3 columns."   The Mac Desktop app is the primary way I access and use Evernote.

I wish I could select the number of columns I can see/use with my selected widgets.  Because now that it is locked in at 3 columns, if I only use widgets in row 1 & 2 - it still leaves the 3rd column visible (just blank) and when I reshape the screen it takes up valuable space as blank spaces...rather than being able to resize against stuff that is populated.

Personally I like to choose to use just two columns - since I only use three rows of widgets (row 1 - two smallest widgets, row 2 - one middle sized widget, and row 3 - one middle sized widget).
