Search: "Recent searches" is not updating (Standard mode)

Version: Mac 10.72.2-mac-mas-public 

When I click on the Search field, the pop up that contains "Recent searches" is not being updated with my recent searches. This is disruptive, as I cannot reuse searches to pull up notes I am looking for unless I re-enter the search.
