Stop auto-open of the Insert menu

Every time I click into an existing note to make an edit, the (+) Insert dropdown Menu automatically opens on my screen which is extremely annoying, especially because IT PREVENTS ME FROM BEING ABLE to TYPE.  99% of the time, I do NOT want to insert an object, I simply want to edit the existing text in my Note when I first open it.  Instead, I am forced to click on the (+) icon to close that dropdown menu of Insert options before I can edit my Note.   Is there any way to change this default behavior in my settings or is it a bug?
